| Lets say its early summer and after a warm perion 80-87 degrees and humidity a cold font comes through dropping about 2 hrs worth of cool rain the ir temp drops 10-15 degrees and humidity gone,,on the next day which one of these lakes would you target has less of an effect by cold front
1- medium size clear lake with deep water
2-medium size very dark water lake with deep water
3 medium size very dark water lake with only shallow water
4- medium size very dark water flowage
theres no way to know the water temp in advance has you havent been there yet. and rivers are not an option
I would pick the flowage because fish in flowages are less effected by cold fronts and the dark water will warm faster the next day
do you agree or whats your opinion |

The day you outlined is the day I would opt for an experienced guide...[]
If that weren't an option then I would side along with you opting for a dark water flowage as I believe that water would warm the quickest and the fish might be somewhat less affected by the adverse weather pattern. I'd also downsize lure size and go after them right in the dense weed cover.
I don't really go after muskies expecting to "put-em-in-the-boat" every time out and this would definitely be a day when if I experienced a follow or a short strike, I'd figure I had a pretty good day. If I actually did "put-em-in-the-boat" I'd be thanking the muskie gods for smilin' down on me for sure...[8)]

| Quite a bit depends on the weather behind the front. A day after the front goes through, if there is another low behind the cold front can be really good on any water.
If the weather calls for a major high pressure system and North or West winds here, I am headed for the Flowage too. In fact, you have described the conditions I have done well on the Boom Flowage in Rhinelander, WI. |

Sadly (and we just went thru it) all lakes will be affected. #'s 3 & 4 should be the best though, as they are practically the same after this condition, but as noted, they will warm up the fastest and get the fish going again. However, the first day or two will be slow with mostly "lazy" following or light hitting fish. Surface baits worked slow have been the most productive.
