I recently found this crankbait, it came from thorne brothers in the late 80's....thats all I know. It has a great finish and its about 11" long. The eyes are glass and it came with double split rings and a very heavy gauge SS lip. Who made it? What was it called?

Posts: 431 | I believe that is called The Natural-at least that's what I was told. I've got one in a similar pattern, but smaller size. Can't tell you who made it or anything about it though.

Posts: 432 Location: mpls | It's a "Natural". One of a set. I can't remember the guys name, I think Steve something. The lures were only sold as a set . One was a glider and one was a crankbait- matching colors. They sold them at Thorne Bros a while back ( 15+ years or more). The sets were $100.00 back then! Nice baits Joe

Joe is correct. It is the "Natural" made by Bob Szesney (spelling on the last name maybe wrong.) Great muskie fisherman and a pioneer in Ontario muskie fishing. He was on the forefront of getting the Ministry to make Lac Seul total realease. He lived in Maple Lake , Mn. in the 80's, have lost touch over the years with him.

I have a few of these baits. I purchased them from "Muskie Fever" back in the mid 90's. One of them (painted in a northern pike pattern) was numbered and signed - Bob Szczesny ##/110. I believe the larger sized version of the crankbait was called "The Maverick". Anyways, I dug out an old "Muskie Fever" catalog from 1996 and this is what is said: The Natural Crankbait - There is no better crankbait of its kind on the market today! The Natural crankbait is 8" long and constructed of mohogany. This state-of-the-art painting process used on The Natural puts up to ten coats of durable paint on each lure for a tough lifelike finish. Each bait is built for the big ones with double O-rings, extra heavy duty stainless steelscrew eyes and a stainless steel lip. Each bait comes rigged with three 3/0 Mustad round bend hooks for maximum hooking power. This bait can be cast or trolled and has a wide lazy rolling wobble and can reach the depths of 17 feet with mono. 8". Limited quantity. $30.98 Colors: 01-White perch 02-Cisco prism 03-Yellow walleye 04-Sucker BTW - The Natural jerkbait was one of THE BEST gliders I've ever owned!!! It had a very unique zig-zag rolling action - that drove the fish nuts!!!
