Posts: 262 | Hey guys, anyone stay at young's? Was just looking for some opinions of the lodge and area. We usually stay at sunsetcove, but we are thinking of mixing it up a little this year. thanks in advance for any opinions. cheers clay

Posts: 171 | Yes, we stayed there twice. Very cool setting on the island. They shuttle you over & motor around Stevens Bay to show you some spots to hit. Lots of good food, great equipment (boat, motor, trolling motor, fish finder, net, etc.). Had lots of follows the first year, but no takers. Did catch some decent pike. Cabins are bit small for our taste, but Carol's hospitality is great. Our 2nd trip was in mid-sept and we fished the first hard cold front of the year...... If you go, don't pass up fishing off the dock. One guest was trying out a new Suick before heading out after breakfast and landed the biggest fish WE saw on the trip! We have gotten spoiled at another lodge (multi-species fishing) so we continue to hit the other one (not on LOTW). ErieBoy75

My group has stayed at Young's for a few years. We decided to switch lakes, but if when we go back to LOW, it will likely be back to Youngs. Perry and Carol do a great job. Good equipment, great food if you go AP and a ton of fishable water right off your dock. For our first few years, we did alot of traveling to Stoney and Sabaskong to fish. On our last trip, we had tough weather that ruled out traveling and fished the adjacent bays and had some of our best fishing. Most of our group rented lodge boats. His electric start 40hp made it a 15 minute ride to the East side of Sabaskong. Youngs is approx and hour from Int'l Falls which makes it by the far the easiest lodge I have stayed at. Once you arrive, they will come and get you, or you can simply make the 3 minute boat ride from the landing into the next bay and they are the very first lodge on your right.

one more note. as already mentioned, Perry will take you for a ride and show you some spots. If you have any LOTW experience, this trip is not very useful. It's LOTW, fish every rock, bouy and point you can. I view having a GPS with the chip as more of a requirment then a luxury. There are two spots that we came very close to taking off the lower unit on the run to Sabaskong due to being out of battery on our handhelds. Make sure yo have a GPS and enough batteries for the week.

Posts: 42 | Hi, we went to Youngs august 2007 and caught 39 muskies. We were fishing for 6 days and we were all beginners at fishing for muskie. Our group consisted of 9 people, some very young. Biggest were 49,5. Last september some of the guys returned to Youngs and caught exactly the same numbers but the best were at 51 inch. I loved it there. Top quality service, good fishing, nice boats, much and well cooked food. Perry and Carol are wonderful and generous people.
