I know there were countless reviews of the Induron but I finally received my new reel today and right away noticed things that I didn't see in any of the reviews (basically because most just asked about how they handle dlb #10's)

Most noticeable was the reel handle is spaced a little further away from the reel main body compared to my Abu's. The nice part about this is the tensioning control for casting is much more accessable and easy to adjust. It is even easier to operate the drag star because of this added space.

Second, adjusting the drag was very smooth and a 'positive' feel. It actually clicks as you adjust the drag. My Abu's sometimes have sticky spots while adjusting the drag (and yes I clean the threads and regrease each cleaning but it still seems to act up once in a while).

Another thing was the reel seat/mount is moved closer to the spool. The actual main body sits lower than the mount. This made it comfortable to grip around the reel and rod. I didn't have a problem with my Abu's but it's something I noticed. This also brought the spool centerline closer to the rod. Don't know if that would affect/improve casting ability but there is a difference in position.

I have to say my initial impression of this reel is it's very smooth and ergonomic. Maybe it's that 'new car' feel but you can tell each thing was well thought out. I can't wait to install my power handle which is in the mail curtious of Mark, Thank you sir.

I waited to long to get one of these and will be getting more.... I can't wait for open water!

Thanks,
Mike

I hope they fixed the gearing as both of my Induron's failed last year while using double tens. The gears started skipping and this was with only limited hours on both reels.

Not to speak for Mark Rodgers, but this problem has been recognized by Okuma has occuring in a number of the reels that were put to market. The positive is that there is a simple fix for this issue and the general consensus is that people who have sent their reels in with this problem have recieved back a working reel within 10 days. If you had this problem and have not had it fixed, my suggestion would be to contact Mark Rodgers, California Muskie on MuskieFIRST, and he will do his best to take care of you.

I've contacted Mark a couple of times with questions as I was trying to decide on some new reels and each time he responded quickly with good information so I felt comfortable with buying this reel and that I would receive the same customer service. I'm sure there are some issues and it is nice to hear about them before hand so both consumers and manufacturers are aware of them.

I personally couldn't get my hands on one of these to see how it feels so I was a little blind going into the purchase but I wanted to let others that may be in the same situation what my first impressions were.

Thanks for the info Mr. Musky and Slamr.....

Just received my Induron back from Okuma. It was one of the reels that was having problems with the clutch disengaging mid cast. I had mentioned to Mark in an email about the reel also giving me some problems with the bearings squeeling and he assured me it would be gone over thoroughly. It showed up today nicely packaged and with an invoice itemizing everything they had replaced in the reel. Very nice work guys!
