| Alright guys, I have read through several past posts and I think I know my answer, but I wanted to put the specifics out there and see if I am right. First, in order to avoid going to far off topic let me tell you about my preferences if you will. I have an 8 ft Legend MH Top and Tail for...just that, smaller spring baits, bucktails ranging from mepps marabous to DC9's, I am not a fan of #10's, but I am comfortable with 9's. I also will throw pacemakers, vipers, topraiders...other top waters in that 2-3 oz range. I am replacing a Premier 7 6 Heavy, that I just don't like the feel of. I only intend to carry 2 rods with me, so I am looking to replace that Premier with a rod that will do the rest of what I do, Mantas, Suicks ( weighted and non), Reef Hawgs, 9 "Shallow Dogs, Hellhounds, SS Shads, and twitching cranks from 6" Jakes to Double D's. I played around with a Lip Stick today and it is much lighter and has a much different feel than the 7 6 Heavy Premier. Based on all of this, can I effectively do what I want to do with that rod? Is there a better option based on my requirements? Thanks in advance for your thoughts. |

Location: London, England | I haven't played with an LT Lipstick, but wouldn't imagine it would be ideal for the range of baits you want it for. It had a more moderate action, suited to crankbaits, and I expect the tip would be too soft for working jerks well. |

another possibly to consider may be the bass mega swimbait blank used on the LTBC80XHF croix legend. i have two that i had built as "musky" rods and they are great for light to mid weight baits of all types. i'm not sure how the swimbait blank action compares to the lipstick action though. i am certain keith at proedge rods, who built mine for me, could answer that one for you. |

Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | You won't like that swimbait blank for jerks. I have 2 of them and they don't work suicks well IMOP. I'd look at their longer jerkbait rod for those baits. |

| personally i enjoyed the swimbait blank for mid weight suicks / reef hawgs but then again i like the bit of "give" and the "deep into the blank" bend that the swimbait blank offers once the beast is hooked! |

Location: Smith Creek | The lipstick is built for cranks, having said that, while the "jerk" was in the factory getting guides fixed I used the lipstick for throwing gliders and was impressed. I wouldn't use it for ripping suicks through weeds, though. |
