just bought my first luna today and i see that the spool has a knob on it.
This means i do not have to back my line with mono? If not whats the best way to tie on to the knob. Thankx for the help

I just tie a Uni-Knot and pull it down on the knob so it's snug and start reeling. I never use backing. I buy bulk spools and fill the spool up with no worry of slippage, later when I need to respool, I just reverse the line from one to another.
I like the pin that they added and the way that they angled the spool.

U should always use backing, all U need is 75 yds of braid on the spool at one time, when it gets low replace the braid, nothing beats fresh line !!! A 300 will hold over 200yds of 80lb braid, think of it as $$$$$$$$$ wasted.
