| Kinda new to Musky fishing. Been hunting the beast for 2 years now. I must say this, all of the veterans that I have talked to have been very helpful. Seems like Musky hunters are kind of a brotherhood. Anyway, can someone give me the lowdown on Hellhounds? Good/bad/just ok, when to use, etc. Thank you for any and all help. Hope that all have a great holiday season and an even better Musky season in 2009. |

The Hellhound has became one of my SUPER FAVORITE lures to fish with, #1. THEY CATCH FISH, #2. They are DURABLE plastic, #3. They are VERY EASY to work/use and throw. I'll have one tied on all day tomorrow! It will be the best $17 you'll spend on a lure (and I have no ties to the people that make them at all, I'm just just an average fisherman).

edit: make sure to sharpen the hooks on them, they will need it!

| I would suggest putting a 7-0 hook on the front and a 6-0 back of the bait.
I suggest the Mustad 3551's
It won't affect the action and will greatly improve your hooking percentages.

| IMO and from my boat, they are NOT worth it... if you prefer follows and lookers, then throw em...they look good to the caster, but our experience has not been good. It really may depend on the body of water your fishing too... |

Location: Indiana | I agree with most of the others on here. You can work them fast or I've had better luck letting them shimmy on the fall and that seems to be a good trigger. |

Location: Ft. Wayne, Indiana | IMO hellhounds are the best glider you can buy. They have a bigger profile than most gliders and they can be worked fast or slow. Not to mention they are made of solid plastic making them indestructible. |

Location: Ohio | My first day throwing a hellhound went something like this: A 40" fish within ten minutes of fishing and then an hour later have a beast of a muskie smack the hellhound headfirst. Didn't hook the bigger fish, but he left teeth marks in the plastic. Very next cast my leader broke and lost that one. It was a custom painted one I did to make it look like a carp. The next day I went out and bought 2 more. |

DR Again, I've been schooled by this gent......not a bad thing. Hellhounds are on my "must have" list. Two 'skis in 15 minutes of fishing. I'd say they work! |

| Hellhounds are good lures, if you run them slow they tend to hook up better but if you run them really aggressive plane on missing more fish and less hook ups.
This summer I went 25 for 4.
I plane on modifying one into a three hook model; lets' see how it runs.
