| I hear all of you that have a Calcutta that they are really long lasting reels as long as you maintain them and take care of them. I was wondering what I have to do and how often to ensure the Calcutta 400's endurance through the years. Thanks |

| 14, I took apart mine yesterday and cleaned and oiled it. I wpied and took all the junk and algae off the exterior, epecially around the line guide and nooks and crannies. I took the reel handle off and put a drop of oil in that spot and a drop for each paddle. Then take the side plate off and well as the adjust cap and oil those moving parts along with a drop on the spool shaft. Take the spool out and put some oil on the moving parts on that side. A drop on the thumbar movement too. A couple of drop on the levelwind also. Take care to remove any dirt and don't get really crazy with the oil. Just a dab in each area is fine. You don't have to disasssemble the right side plate to get to what you need to oil either. Rather simple actually. Good luck.[:)] |
