Where and what kind of wire do you buy for your home made buckstails? I've been buying blank wires from Thorne Bros. and think they are too short.

Go to a local harware store. I usually buy .028 or .05 diameter and it comes in a tube of around two three feet long with 5-6 pieces of wire in each one. BG

Rollie & Helens, Cabelas, Bass pro, Jann's Netcraft- wire up to .051"( the bucktail standard) most are made from this wire.
Dick Moore ( Moores) .071". ( If you want indestructable)
All wire is listed as either leader material or Bucktail wire, usually sold in 1/4# or 1 pound spools.

I usaully by from Moores, (Dick is a great guy ) but I know you can buy a bulk roll and cut your own lengths or buy precut lengths like 12" or whatever. The hardware store by me sells "piano wire" in all different sizes. That may be worth checking out. I've never used it, but it may work? Good luck and have fun!!!

I checked into this and its the same stuff the bait shops are selling. Wipe off the grease with some acetone and it looks and feels the exact same. $1.50 for 9ft.

That pre-tied wire is great! I have some and it is easy to use.
