Hi,

Does anyone out there own a 7' mh croix premier? the one I'm talking about would be the metallic black blanks, the newer redesigned premiers, the reason I'm asking is because i have a gentleman wanting me to build him a custom rod off that blank, and since i don't personally use much st. croix stuff, I'm in the dark as to what this rod is capable of, i know the 7' is not a cut down version of the 7'6'' premier, basically wanting to know how durable it is, and if it can handle more than the 3oz lure rating, and is it a good multi- purpose stick--any help?

I have mine paired with a 6600C4 and use it for jerks, WTD, gliders, small bucktails, etc. Great set up for that. It was actually my first muskie rod (3 years now) and I used to use it for everything, but there are obviously better rods for other applications. I wouldn't want to throw dawgs on it all day.

RyLure, it's a good stick for a multipurpose rod and can easily handle the 3 oz lures. When I'm not throwing bigger lures it's my rod that gets the most use.

I use this rod with a Curado 300, I really like it for spinnerbaits (slopmasters) and bucktails ( Mepp's and Buchertails ) it could probably handle more but, this is what I'm comfortable with. All said it's a pretty good rod (one of my favorites).
