I'm still pretty new to muskie fishing but have been completely addicted to this site. First of all that 57" x 33" fish recently caught was just ridiculous. Imagine that. Angler should be commended for the CPR. Anyways, I'm wondering about the shows this winter. I am planning to go down to the Milwaukee Expo in February but not sure. Are the Chicago and Minnesota shows more comprehensive? Am I going to miss out on anything at the Milwaukee show that I could have seen at the Chicago or Minnesota shows? I would think almost all lure manufacturers will still be in Milwaukee? If anyone has a dealer list for the Milwaukee show that would be great.

The fact that it's in Chicago and it draws more people from around the country and it's the first show of the year. Basically anyone that has anything to do with the musky world will be at the Chicago show. However, the Milwaukee show I'd say is the next best thing with maybe just a few less exhibitors from what I remember in previous years. But none the less, a very good show.

Posts: 3147 | Chicago show is the first show and always has the 'Buzz' you get to see the new products for next season here its a very fun time. The speaker line up is the best. Minnesota Show has the most booths and it now has moved into an even larger building, knowing Paul Hartman the new promoter hes gonna look to expand the show even more. it has also been moved to April which will give bait makers time to replenish their supplys from other shows Milw show is alot of fun too I wish it was in a better building not a glorified horse barn and it sucks you have to pay for parking, Its great that the swap meet is held right at the designated show hotel

Posts: 512 Location: Appleton | I've never been to Minnesota but I will say I like Milwaukee better than Chicago. I go to Chicago because it's first and you get a few more vendors but everything seems cramped there. In Milwaukee is seems the crowds are less and the space seems bigger. If I could only go to one I think I would choose Milwaukee. Plus it's closer to home for me.

Posts: 743 | Does the Mn show have more vendors than Chicago? It's a little far to go from Milw. but if they have more maybe I'll skip Chi. to go to MN. And you say it's in April this year? Chi is always weather dependant but April should have good weather.

Winter sucks! I have no desire to fish through the ice. Yet, I can not wait until spring. Last summer was my first season musky fishing. I managed to get 3 muskies under my belt and watch friends bring two other fish in to my boat. All lakes here in northern wisconsin have been froze for some time now. The 2009 season will not come soon enough. Until then, I am looking forward to seeing some new things at the Milwaukee show in February. This will be my first musky expo as well and I can't wait to meet some of the biggest names in the sport today. I'm just wondering on average, How much do most guys spend at these winter shows? I myself am planning on spending $300-400 due to the fact I will be looking for a new reel and possibly new rod also. I realize this is probably pretty low for some of you nuts considering you could have more than that invested in one rod/reel combo. I will be looking to load up on as many lures possible too though. New rod and reel can wait as I currently have two set-ups. Q: On average how much do you spend at the Winter Muskie Expos?

Posts: 366 | Answer: When I was starting out in muskie fishing, As much as I could afford, which was in the $300-$500 range depending on the year. Now a days, as little as possible, unless there is something specific that I want. Of course it doesn't help that I've gone back to school and don't have the extra $$$ any more, but that will change when I graduate.

Posts: 59 Location: Chicago western burbs | Me personally I like the Milwaukee show. I live close to the Chicago show, and go each year. I always feel crammed in there. Milwaukee has similar number of venders but is laid out in a greater amount of space. Chicago and Milwaukee both have great speakers. They are really the same show except for this, and this is big in my book. Beer. When I go to the Milwaukee show I can get a beer, wander around, listen to seminars and basically have a day of beer drinking and musky talk. Chicago serves no beer. For that reason alone I vote for the musky show in Milwaukee as the place to be in 2009. For me, its a day away from work, having a beer, chatting with friends, and having my mind wander off to musky fishing and the possiblities of the upcoming year. It really is a mental vacation. Either way enjoy, it really is a win win situation.

Posts: 78 | I like them both. Chicago is crowed. They should open the pool to demos all day long to help spread the crowd out. At the Chicago show you have a chance to look at everything new and buy some custom colors. I take a note pad along and write down everything I like but can't afford to buy. At the Milwaukee show I can then buy some of those items. I come from Warsaw Indiana and its a great day for my buddies to get together and have fun. Also the chicago show is the same weedend as the All Canada Show; so when we get done with the chicago show we drive over to the canada show and take it in. If we got any money left we might stop at Cabelas or Bass Pro on the way home. Great Time!! My buddies and I are saving money up now.
