Posts: 229 | MY dad and I are going to be in the MN metro area this summer around the beginning of june and we are planning in fishing for tigers the mojority of the time, and I was wondering, is there any lakes that aren't very busy during this time of year? if so what are they? what do you guys think about Crystal lake, is it any good for tigers? we would like to focus on just a few lakes during the time we are there so Im trying to get an idea of what lakes to fish. Feel free to PM me if you don't want to post, but any information would be greatly appreciated ![]() Thanks, Alex

Posts: 2384 Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | The tiger lakes generally don't get hit too much so the world is your oyster in that respect. As far as one to hit do this: look at the DNR site and check the stocking data. Remember that these fish need about 5 years to get to 40" and only live to 7 (generally). Do the math and you'll get your answer.

Posts: 3155 | like treats said Tiger fishery here is overlooked if you couple that with the lakes that are elecric motor only,,then you really have solitude,,"I spent 30 grand on my boat and I cant hear my motor run Im not gonin there" is what alot of guys have told me,,,Nokomis,Isles, calhoun cedar, in Mpls are stocked with tigers, and are electric only,, non electric -Cedar lake in the south metro is the most heavily stocked but gets horribly weed choked after june,,call the dnr and get a list of tiger lakes and then buy a copy of 'sybil smiths twin city fishing guide which will give you a book full of maps of metro lakes and most of the tiger ones. theres around 22 tiger lakes I think and some unknown ones where they have gotten into. If your looking for a guide Paul Hartman has wrote a number of articles about tigerss and you would learn alot about Minnesotas other muskie

Posts: 229 | Thanks for the replies guys, we are going to try and go up there during the week in hopes for the lakes to be less busy. What are some good lure choices for the tigers up there?

Posts: 177 Location: Cohasset, MN | I've not fished metro tigers in early season. Through October I've had action on bucktails/spinners and slow twitched shallow raider/invader.

Posts: 3155 | CJ's small size double willow leaf has been a good producer on metro tigers,,,some people swear by the good ole doctor spoon. the guy who caught the state record loves spoonplug trolling

Large bass-sized spinnerbait is a favorite of mine. As far as Crystal lake goes, it's been tough for me the last two years. Not sure if I'll be going back. Calhoun chain offers a great experience though.
