| does anyone fish for muskie with a bass boat or is it to tippy and spacious? I was looking at the triton 18 explorer with a 115 opti. Or would i be better off with some ranger walleye boat or a lund? I really like bass boats to and would be traveling to various lakes around minnesota quite oftencelia well |

| I fished out of a Ranger 27T, which is a 17-6 Crestliner hull with a Ranger interior and a 75 Mariner. I consider myself a multi species angler, but the spacious front and rear decks and lack of much gunnel made it just what I was looking for. From flippin' and pitchin' for bass on The Mississippi backwaters, to fishing for panfish and walleyes in the same areas, to throwing for the dominant predator in MN and WI, this boat could handle it all. Big open waters like Cass that could get rolling in a minute, to smaller ponds that we could launch in easily. You can never be too spacious, and as far as 'tippy', I took out a noted fiberglass boat salesman, and told him to go and stand in the very back corner. When he did and we didn't tip more than an inch, he said, "This is the finest tin boat that I've ever fish out of."
It will soon be for sale as I make the move to another gunneless boat. Keep an eye on that forum, or keep in touch with me.

| A Bass boat will work great in Minnesota for Muskie. They are a very stable platform for tossing baits off the front decks. Heck, that's what they are designed for.
I have a Ranger 681VS which is a multi species boat , works great. I have a Tuffy deep V, works great. Don't get hung up on the boat issue. Get some tackle, hop in a boat and go fishing. Don't make this hobby overly complicated or expensive . It will just take the fun out of it for you.
Keeps this in mind, when fishing always keep an eye on the weather. You can get into trouble with even the most expensive and large boats they make. Be smart, stay alive. |

| iknow a bass boat would be fine if its like 20 feet but what if the boat is an 18 foot explorer?It just seems a little small for a muskie boat? |

Location: St. Croix River, Mille Lacs, | GAGAJOE, The Lund Predator 2010 or the 1810 deserve a serious look-see. Lund went to musky and bass pro's to develop these boats and did an awesome job!

| One thing to consider in a bass boat is that you need to strap everything down whenever you want to run from sport to spot. I have a Lund 1900 Pro V and I can lay rods, lures, etc on the floor and run all day and not worry about gear flying out of the boat. Any deep V style boat for that matter would be the same.

Location: Long Prairie, Minnesota | I fish out of a Lund 1600 Explorer and it works awesome for me. Can fish two without any problems and 3 if needed. Have had the boat on the biggest water in the state of Minnesota and never had any worries. Worst I was in was out on Mille Lacs in 15mph winds and drove all the way across the lake. Just can't go flying wide open and have to drive sensible. Like stated above, weather can get you no matter what boat you are running. Was a 619 or 620 Ranger that got swamped out on LOTW last year during some bad weather. |
