What type of topwater? (Tail rotating, or walk the dog baits)

I dont think you'll find many blanks rated at Med. Heavy with a lure weight range of 1-6oz

Here are a couple that may work for you:

ST CROIX 2M80MHF 8' MH POWER, FAST ACTION, 3/4-3OZ (probably about as close as possible in a MH power)

LAMIGLASS LGM961H 8' HEAVY POWER FAST ACTION, 1-8OZ

My pick would really depend on the lure weights you throw most, my guess is the St Croix would be a better choice considering we're talking top water. The MH power rating is going to give you better casting and less of a broom stick.

you may want to look at the st. croix legend "bass" mega swimbait blank # 4C80XHF. even with the rating at 3-8 oz baits the rod easily threw baits down to about one ounce for me. in my opinion, the XH designation is a bit deceiving being that the blank has a "softer" top end than most XH rated "musky" rods out there today...maybe the reason for that is because it is out of st. croix's "bass" category. keith at proedge built two for me and i couldn't be happier using them with light to mid heavy range baits...bucktails, topwaters, rubber, jerkbaits, whatever. i would suggest contacting keith at proedge to discuss this and other blanks that he builds on and i'm sure he can easily describe what each of them can and can not do in effort to match up the perfect one for you...

a good blank i've built on that would probably suit you well is the 7'10'' rainshadow rx7, it's got a 3/4-3 oz rating, but they through up to 5oz easily, it used to be called a mh, now they call it a hvy?? anyway, it will through topwaters of all sizes, bucktails, small to med jerks, they have a fast tip, very powerful in the butt section, and are very comparible to a diamondback, they are very light in weight, and so far i've yet to break one, i have heard of some that did break, and it seems they all were from the same year, and they were'nt 7'10's, i've built these rods out to 8'6'', with good results, i've recently started using the rx8 blank and love it, however the rx8 is a bit more $$, if it sounds like something you'd like pm me. ryan
