Winds are howling here in NW Iowa, gusts well over 50 mph. Drove by the lakes and snapped a few pics.

Wow! How do you suppose my 16' Navigator would handle that?

I took a 175 Trophy across the lake in the 2nd pic about 5 years ago about the same conditions. No way would I attempt it again. 2 on a dock barge went down 1/2 hour behind us both drown. There were 4 of us that feel lucky we made it that day.

Near 60mph winds here in MN. So do you fish on the windy or non-windy side on days like today?

Stuck it out on Green Bay until about 10 am. Starting to look like your pic. Headed in and warmed up. Gusts were more like 30 when I got off. 2 boats were still out. I could no longer have landed a fish when I hung it up (fishing by myself).

I checked the weather reports and we had gusts at 60 mph with 43 mph sustained winds when I took the pics. The first 2 out of my truck ( while being sandblasted with the window down) the 2nd 2 out of it and I could barley stand up against the gusts. Weird thing is I thought this would get the water temps dropping sharply but just checked those to and lake in the first pics went up 1.5 degrees today the 2nd stayed the same as its been last 3 days.

It will take 24+ hours before the cool water can mix into the upper layer of the water column. With cold temps predicted over the next few nights and cooler day temps across the Midwest, I'm sure those water temps will decrease quite a bit over the next few days.

C'mon that's no different than fishing Boji in the Summer with all the knuckleheads and their cabin cruisers tooling along and going in between you and the shore!

True but at least with the cabin cruisers you have a target

wow....those pics are crazy. I was pulling a 30/31 ford coupe home that day from IA...no wonder I was getting 20 MPG on the way home. That's a heck of a tail wind! I knew it was windy, but that is brutal!!

Yea the cruisers give you a nice target, but every now and then they win....Had some douchbag run over my line and spooled me with my shallow invader. At least it was a "cheap" lure and hopefully the jacka$$ has to replace 2 prop seals next spring.
At least with wind on 'boji, the waves only come from one direction!
