Posts: 968 Location: N.FIB | How many of you guys leave for fishing and forget something back at the house, like something important(NET).Well, went fishing with bigman yesterday, and he was talking to a buddy on the phone (as I came back from parking the truck after launching the boat) who was coming up to fish and telling him the code to his garage and where the net was hanging.I then looked around the boat and said OH NO,we forgot the net.We ended up having to hand land 2 fish(37.5/40),I hand landed the 40 and my finger was REAL CLOSE TO THE HOOKS.I got lucky on that one,his buddy came with the net and it must of been bad luck or something,2 misses and a little guy(28).Hand landing fish is not something you want to do even even when you have handle alot of fish like we have, but we weren`t gonna not fish after driving an hour. How many of you guys have done something like this,or even got to the lake and forgot something else like poles, tackle box, hell maybe even the boat(lol).

Posts: 145 | I recently got to a local lake 10 min from my house with just enough time (1.5 hr) to get out in my new canoe and try to make something happen. Beautiful night strong wind blowing into dying cabbage and coon tail all day over cast with a light misty rain, I was so excited. Got all my gear in the canoe, went to launch, and no paddles. Checked under canoes that were tied up on the shore (grasping at straws and I would of course return them) and no luck. Put my canoe in with the tied up ones, threw my gear in the car and shot back home grabbed the paddles. All told I might have gotten 45 min on the water once I got back and set up. Needless to say I was not fishing correctly, I tried to squeeze 2 hours in to 45 min. No hits no follows but lesson learned. Not going to make this mistake again maby some other but not that one.

Posts: 574 | Sept 13th this year I got to a the launch(20min drive), unloaded the truck, unhooked the boat looked around (@*#$ no net. Had caught fish 3 trips in a row this week, at least 2 per night, so I really wanted my net. Re pack boat, re strap boat, drive home, grab net, drive back to the lake, unstrap boat, Finally launch boat,....... fish 10 minutes and catch and net a 46+ on topwater by myself. I'm glad BN and C.Painter were within yelling distance so I actually did get a few pics. Same day 2 years previous I got a 47 on the same lake..........strange

Posts: 691 Location: nationwide | We were 2 hours away from the house when my buddy noticed he forgot the boat seats in his shed, the bad thing was the life vests were on the backs of the seats. Needless to say we went seatless and rented a couple life jackets and a throwable from a resort for the day. Corey Meyer

Posts: 1286 Location: Stevens Point, Wi. | I had an old friend and his wife stop by for a visit. Hadn't fished with him in several years so decided to hit a local lake while the wives discussed our shortcommings. Hitched up the boat, 10 minute ride to the landing, unloaded, realized I left key hanging in garage. Pulled boat on shore and left friend for the short ride home. By the time I got back, he was landing a 36" muskie off the back of the boat. Only fish we saw that evening.

Posts: 462 Location: Madison Wi. Chain | I have a locking pin mechanism for my trailer that attaches to the hitch. At least twice, drove off with this sitting on the truck or trailer. Lately, learned to slow my brain down think things through making sure I do not forget anything. Probably delays my fishing time by a minute or two. BG

Posts: 477 Location: Iowa | About 100 miles into a 300 mile trip to the Hayward area, I realized the net was still hanging in the garage where I put it up the night before to keep the 3 1/2 year old daughter from dragging it around while I was packing boat. Lucky (I guess) I only got 2 smaller size fish which were not too bad to reach with the needle nose and pop out the hooks. Only time I was kind of relieved a large fish wasn't hooked. Also drove a little over an hour a few years back to go bass fishing. Got the boat in the water and realized I had no rods in the boat. They were in there the night, but someone had helped themselves to them in the driveway. Left them in the boat the night before for years. Not again, it sucks replacing rods and baits, even when they are the cheap bass type.

Posts: 720 | Hey all, I drove from Chicago to Kenora. Pull up to the landing unload the boat and tied it to the dock. Unload my gear into the boat for the ride into camp. Hop in to start the boat I've got no keys. I looked through the truck from stem to stearn. No keys. I call home and got my wife asked her if she knows where the boat keys might be. She puts down the phone and in about a minute she comes back and says " I found them in the garage". I asked her "Were they on the floor"? She said " NO they were in the garage sitting on top of your tackle box idiot". If I live to be a hundred I'll never live that down. Edited by Hunter4 10/21/2008 9:34 PM

Met K-bob a few years ago, and I either forgot my rods or my baits. I think it was my rods. Also went bowhunting a time or two, without my bowquiver full of broad-head tipped arrows.

Earlier this year I was making a trip to webster in indiana. About 60 miles into the trip I stop at a gas station To fill the outboard tank and my truck. I pay for the gas and a can of 2 cycle oil. I go to the boat and there is no gas tank. I took it out earlier that week and it was still sitting on my porch. Luckily there is a walmart on us 30 I had to by tank line and fittings. I now have to tanks lol.

Posts: 743 | I have forgotten a net on occasion. This year I went out with a guide on Eagle and the guide forgot the net. When I was younger I drove all the way up north for a hunting trip and forgot my guns. And the camera. The middle of a late fall trip. First several days left the camera in the boat at night. Took it out middle of the weekand forgot to put it back in the next morning. First spot a 50 incher. That was my second 50 and I don't have a picture of either. Posts: 720 | Jerry, Every now and then I'll ask her if she has seen my sunglasses or truck keys or whatever. She'll give me a rye little smile and ask me to check the garage and look on top of my tackle box. Been married to this great woman for twenty years and I'm still waiting for her to screw up and when she does I'll be all over her like white on rice. The problem is I probably won't live long enough to see that day.

Posts: 61 Location: Sioux Lookout On Canada | Went to film a fishing show last summer and the cameraman forgot to bring video tapes. I boated three muskies that evening. He kicked himself for not being prepared. I shot fifteen seconds of video with my digital camera of each fish just to prove my point to him that I am prepared.
