Posts: 2361 | Pointerpride102 - 10/18/2008 9:53 AM firstsixfeet - 10/17/2008 7:40 PM I am staying with my opinion after thinking about this some more. Why does holding an opinon differing from others aggravate some posters to the point they want to question your motive and make insinuations about you? It is just my opinon, not a personal attack. My thinking that it is a crock should not upset you so. Why? Because you havent given a logical explination as to why you feel it is a crock. Simply because they are bringing an inflatable boat along wont cut it. I've fished out of so crazy boats, as well as no boat, and done quite well. Until you provide a reasonable arguement as to why this is trip has some alternative motive, my opinion will still be that you are arguing for arguing sake and enjoy watching yourself type. Well, I doubt that you and some others would consider any opinon that swayed from yours as logical nor reasonable. That is probably why you are trying to belittle my opinions on the board here, and why the exaggerations and insinuations spring up in Baldy's post. Realistically, I never said anything that had any similarity to Baldy's "shiny ranger" blurb. If you consider a boat that can be pierced by a stob a serious fishing boat, so be it. I don't. Frankly it makes little difference in the long run what I think. If it reeks to me of a double scoop of "me generation", so what? Why would it upset you? There are a lot of good people out there doing a lot of good things, and a lot of things still need to be done, maybe these two guys are actually going to do some good. I don't claim to know, but I am not holding my breath in the meantime. If it is going to be discussed and I have an opinon, I will venture into the discussion. In another 20 years you might even understand my point of view. ![]()

Posts: 2361 | Tommy - 10/18/2008 11:03 AM Pointer TO cool. No one likes me or my style around here so I only pop in now an again....that is kind a funny in itself. Far from it in my case but then no one, no one is like me. We might not agree on the motivation for this trip, but you do need to post on here more. It appears the thought police are beginning to control the board. Now that Sponge Bob seems to have taken a suicide dive into Rockfishing, there isn't much to look forward to. Your Faulknerian missives, delving both into the stream of consciousness and might I add, unconsciousness, would certainly jerk the boys drawers up tight for a while, while they tried to digest the gist of it all...nothing wrong with that.

Posts: 16632 Location: The desert | FSF, We have agreed and disagreed on this board often. Where I take issue with your opinion is that you give no reasonable explanation as to why this trip is simpy a 'look at me' stunt. What do they have to gain by doing so? In no way shape or form do they mention getting anything for free. If a guide gives them a discount for a bit of publicity of their name, so what? They are only fishing with these guys for 4 hours, seems like a good thing for the guide. What do the anglers gain? I guess I just dont understand the purpose of coming on and trying to make less of a father and son going fishing across the US and having a good time. Neither father nor son posted that link. Had whoever started the original post linking you to that webpage would you have ever known about it? I sure wouldnt have. So in some respects they would have undertaken such a trip privately. They stated that the page was set up to keep friends informed. Of course neither of us knows whether or not this is actually true, but I like to at least give them the benefit of the doubt and think that was their only intent. So I ask you, what other motivation for this trip does this father and son have? You came on here disagreeing that this trip was pretty cool. I am disagreeing with your opinion and now asking you to explain/defend your opinion.

![]() Nothing wrong with dat! Like the man says: Its UNCOMPLICATED! Everyone one seems kinda silly to me. Runnen around never try'en ta see. Looken for help in the telephone book, Always try'en to find the invisable hook. Hole lot a times, you know I tired to find Anyway to get a lil piece of mind. But then one day, quite accidentally I came a cross a man...found out it was ME! Its as easy as that if you want to be free You can swim like da fish in the bottomless sea YOu can keep on rocken till the day you die, and you never ever even have to wonder why. Some folks slip when thier out on a limb, think they went to far, rush real fast to get back in. So don't be scared when you see yer self, Just thank the Lord that you aint nobody else. I like to feel the heat but I don't know why Its as easy to live as it is to die I feel alive when I'm playen that Rock n roll Don't let nobody tell ya that you got no soul. Be alive with a fire that you never known It's the reason your alive, its the way to be free! UNCOMPLICATED! Dude!!!!!!!!! Firstsixfeet gets it. No doubt. Man I think of Sponge sometimes in the boat, of post from years gone by... an I smile! Fer sure! ![]() Keep on Rocken! Wonderful Tom Wehler

Posts: 4053 Location: Land of the Musky | Hey Tom!!! Good to hear you will be helping them out! Thanks for the link a few nights ago. Made my night to read it! I hate to say it but it got me off ars and my computer and out into my living room with my son and daughter to build a marble maze game. Sometimes it takes a little something to make you realize your not doing what you need to be doing at that time and that is "spend a little more time with your kids!". Can't wait to hear your report after you get done fishing with them. Well, time to go out and re-build the marble maze with the little ones since they ripped it down yesterday when daddy was at work... Good times Tommy!!!!! James PS-Got some Christmas gifts for you when you get off the island! You will like these! LOL

Let's settle it the American way, you send the buggers a check and a letter telling them how they have inspired you, and I...............................................won't.

Posts: 829 Location: Maple Grove, MN | That trip would be something to write a book about. What a trip that would be. ![]() Can't quite see how anyone could see anything wrong with it. Gosh, its just fishing guys. Edited by Herb_b 10/18/2008 11:36 PM

Posts: 568 | great read --- Don't be insulted 50-50 about the boat comments ---1st six feet once called my "tub " a rock a bye baby basket or something to that effect ! Something about the floor not being flat LOL ! Actually I love the idea, I've got a son that does'nt really enjoy fishing, he hunts , I don't. Man what i would'nt give for an adventure like this one. Sounds like no sleep in 50 days. Don't know how they are going to pull it off but I wish them the best. I'd suggest a great radar detector and skipping the fishing license's. But hey everyone has an opinion ! MD

Posts: 335 Location: Minnesota | When I read about this my first reaction was what a waste. If fishing is the goal this isn't a very serious fishing trip. Then I realized that it isn't a fishing trip, it is an adventure to all 50 states and they are going to fish in each state while they are there. Some people go to all of the baseball parks, football fields, National Parks, etc.. these two are going to drop a line in each state. A couple of years ago there was a family from the MPLS area that home schooled their kids on an RV while traveling the USA. They called it roamschooling and they only had their kids out of regular schools for one year to do this but I remember following their trip and thinking of all of the cool things that I would try to do with my kids when they are a little older. There are other motives to plan an adventure like this and it wouldn't matter if they were collecting rocks, the trip in and of itself is very cool. The details and logistics for everyone would be slightly different but it is their trip and I wish them the best of luck.
