I have a 2003 Evinrude 150 FICHT. This is my first year owning this motor. This motor has pured like a kitten all year. Yesterday I had a heck of a time getting the motor to stay running while trying to launch. All day long it idled real rough and it kept wanting to cut-out and/or die when under 5 mph. This is a huge problem since most of the lakes I fish are NO WAKE lakes. I don't think it is the gas. I hope it is somthing as simple as plugs or a filter. Is there anything else with these FICHT's I should check.

Probably injectors are dirty. Call dealer to get solution mixture and hook up remote tank to motor and run solution through. I used to have the mixture but dont anymore. You can also try heavy concentration of Seafoam in gas and see what happens.

I have the 03 225, and I am guessing it is the plugs, pull one and check the gap, if the the gap it is out of tolerance, time to change plugs. Same thing happens to mine when its time to change the plugs. If plugs are good, then it could be several other things. I would start with checking the plugs.

I run a 200 fict and had same problem when I went through two sets of plugs one year when I did alot of trolling. With you fishing alot of no wake lakes that fits with what I was doing trolling at idle speed alot...new plugs fixed 'er up...not cheap, though. Now have a kicker and haven't needed to replace plugs since.

Thanks for all the input. I have not had a chance to look into it since I made this post due to unexpected family circumstances. Again, thanks for the input.

I am running the '03 135 ficht. It is most likely the plugs if you do a lot of idling or trolling with it. Mine does the same thing if I do a lot of trolling. If I run it hard it seems to get better. I am changing plugs this off season. I have heard that the etec plugs last longer and run better in the fichts as well.

I had a very similar issue earlier this year. Thought a plug was fouled, put a new set in, she ran good for about 5 minutes and then back to the same spitting and sputtering. Ended up being only a clogged injector.
