| Come on, Steve, What happened to the days of mowing them down in the moring and putting a couple in the boat before dark? Surf and turf days, Venison and walleyes.
I'm keeping an eye on the weather, and though I can't hunt any more, I could find myself in Green Bay, Pewaukee or on The Mississippi River. I'n not ruling anything out. I remember when it was tradition for the gang that I hunted with to kill deer on the weekend, get together on Monday and Tuesday to skin them and bone them out, give thanks for all Gods has given to us on Thursday, and then head to The River on Friday, and reap more of God's harvest. Some years it was walleyes and saugers, but some of the best years were when we would catch huge baskets full of big bluegills. The 3 of us would filet bluegills and then eat all that we could and split up the rest in freezer bags. There is no finer eating than fresh bluegills out of ice cold water. Some years we would move around and wind up catching bluegills from shore, and then return 2 weeks later with augers and long poles with 1# line. That was really fun. Load all of the ice-fishing gear into the boat, and then drive to the back side of some pothole and walk 100 yards trhough the woods to get to the ice-fishing. If onlt The Mississippi River had muskies in it, I'd never fish anywhere else for the rest of my life. It all depends on the weather.

| Braved GB yesterday for about 5 hours, but have no luck. Thought the Musky Gods would smile on my effots, but it was simply not to be. Still fun, though!! |

Location: Stevens Point, WI | Spent all day Friday, half of Saturday chasing big fish on North Twin. Saw a few fish and had a really good one on a 20 inch sucker that instantly went to 35 feet of water but after my hook set like no other, the sucker came up all chewed and dead. Hopefully I can get another day or two on the water before ice up. |

| we jumped out on the local pond for 3 hours this morning before the football game.
had 2 pick-up/drops on suckers, 1 airball hookset on a sucker, and 2 lost after a brief fight on suckers.
made for a very fun morning with all that action, though, all the ziiiippps and chaos reminded us of everything that's fun about fishing in the fall.
one of the sucker hits happened as we were netting my partner's monster that he caught on a softail phantom...net the fish, drop the net, grab the rod...whiff! doh.
(pic attached, we didn't measure it precisely, but estimated it at 54" or so.)

Location: Bloomer, Wi | Took a friend of mines 13 yr old son and his buddy fishing saturday for 3 hours I raised a 42" and caught this 38" that cole netted. Sunday went with one of my best friends to Deer and had 5 follows 33-42" watched guy land a near 40" on a sucker right next to us.
Here is a picture of the 2 boys fishing in the short lived snow storm and a pic of me and cole with my 38". I think cole wants his identity withheld, not really sure why he never took that hat off but thats how they had to stay warm to keep fishing.

Location: searchin for 50 | Boated 2 on friday and no fishing the rest of the weekend. Getting ready for deer hunting and those darned leaves had to be raked.

Location: Dixon, IL | Fished at small private Lake in west Illinois that allow electric motor only....cold don't bother me but very strong windy that we don't want risk on boat so we fished on shore on the side where little less windy. 4 crappies and a 12" smallmouth Bass. My son got a nice walleye. We throw out 8 to 10 inch wild creek chub on large slip floats! No musky! |

Location: ROckford IL | got out sunday and fished from 7am till around 4pm, we managed to put three in the boat and lost 3 others, it was pretty cold out there, ice forming on the rods and muskies eating suckers

Location: New Berlin,Wisconsin,53151 | Did GB for the myth of the 1st full moon in November. It wasn't real productive as we trolled and casted the Bay and the river without any action. We did see a fish caught in the Bay by the Key's boat filming for there show and heard of a couple of other nice fish caught, but as for us there wasn't much except for a 45lb carp snagged in the back.

Location: Wausau | I fished a Minocqua area lake and once again had more fun catching cisco in the shallows after dark...some of these fish made a Pounder look small. I know MN has huge cisco and whitefish, but one would be surprised how big they are in WI too. As far as musky - had one eat a Pounder only to have hooks for 2 seconds before tearing the back 1/3 off. Another pick up/drop a sucker and one caught on a quick-rigged cisco.

Location: Twin Cities | I fished hard both days, raise 12-15 fish both days. Had 1 big girl eat that i've been chasing for 2-3 months. Had her on the line for 2-3 minutes, when I went for the net (fishing alone) she opened her mouth and the dawg fell out. Hooks sharp, strong hookset, ARGH! Raised her 3 times the next day, she took a swing and a miss at my buddies suick, I think I might drop a sucker on her head next weekend. |

Location: Lino Lakes, MN | Got my first MN fish this past week while out fishing with Jonesi. This 44" fish finally ended my streak of losing fish on big rubber. Hopefully the fish are cooperative over the next couple of weeks as I plan on pounding the water to a froth now that I'm back in the midwest.

Location: Waukesha & Land O Lakes, WI | It got nasty by me this weekend up in Land O. Fished a little bit saturday and sunday not moving anything on Suckers and gliders. Water temps hoovered around mid 30's, ice was beginning to form along the west side of the lake. Nasty snow squalls and wind, air temps in the upper 20's saturday and low 20's Sunday.
With Air temps in the teens and twenties most of the week, this may have been the last weekend around Land O Lakes, Palmers landing, even with the wind today, was beginning to firm.
Deer guys wil be happy to know that 4-6" of powder from Boulder Junction on up..with up to 6" expected today/tonight. |

| Fished 4 days through some tough conditions on the St. Lawrence river and caught a 52.5 incher.

| There were 6 Flatlanders that went to North Twin Lake last weekend. Team Astro had Craig and Ken Born; Team Ranger had Dave Jack and Mike McClammer; Team Champion had Jeff Blanck and Steve Ruhmann. The weather was very testing for both the fishermen and the equipment. The air temps averaged around 31 and the water temps were as follows:
North Twin - 43 Thursday to 41 Saturday
Big Sand - 39
Big St. Germain - 40
Kentuck - 37
Reels were freezing as well as eyelets on rods and live well lids. My engine was very cold blooded and took a minute to get warmed up during the coldest morning. I ended up wrapping it up with a blanket and putting a quartz light under it at night for radiant heat, which helped a lot. We had over an inch of snow on the deck of the boat on Saturday and the temperature dropped enough to keep it icy the rest of the trip. I knew it was bad when I had to bring the trolling motor in the cabin at night because it would freeze in the up position at night. I don't want to tell you how we tried to thaw it!!! We ended up dunking it in the lake but that didn't work either. We had to bang it on the rod locker to break it free of it's icy grip. Then it was off to the races.
The fish showed up on different lakes at different times. There seemed to be the most action during the mid day times (10:30 to 11:30). There was a flurry of action on Sand during Thursday's dusk prime time but other than that, the prime time bite was one or two fish showing up each day but that's it. North Twin had virtually no sucker bite as far as we knew but the fish would move on baits, with Bull dogs being the best shot. Suckers did show on the other lakes, though, with Sand giving up the most fish on suckers. The fish counts were as follows:
Jeff Blanck - 46.5" on North Twin (Bulldog)
Steve Ruhmann - 44", 40" on North Twin (Bulldogs)
44.5" on Big Sand (sucker)
Dave Jack - 46.5" tiger on Kentuck (sucker)
Mike McClammer - 41" tiger, 39" - Big Sand (suckers)
Craig Born lost a pig next to the boat on a Bull dog on North Twin.
I had a great time and I think everyone else did, also. The food was great as the crock pots and stoves kept the cabins smelling good after a long day on the water. We ended up going to Big St Germain on Sunday to fish for a half day and then into Rob Manthie's place, Fibber's, to watch the Bear/Packer game and have all you can eat chicken...what a great day!, even with no fish that day. Watching the game, looking out at a lake, snow on the boat, polaroids in hand, in the north woods with friends. Rob even treated us to a complimentary shot that none of us had ever had. Be sure to ask for an "apple pie" shot next time you're at Fibbers. They're great!
We were also able to stop by and visit with former Flatlanders Jerry and Vicky Anderson at their home on Smokey Lake just north of North Twin Lake. It was nice to see them relaxing on the lake shore, enjoying retirement...I am envious, but it couldn't be happening to better people. They are living the dream.
Thanks to Marty and Jen at North Twin Lodge for the best fall accomodations we could ask for. A cabin 50 feet from the water with a launch literally at our front door. We'll be there next year for sure.

| Hit Lake Shelbyville this past weekend but had no success. Tried everything; dragged suckers, casted and vertical jigged bulldawgs, casted main lake points and also backs of coves and even trolled crankbaits around the face of the dam. Balls of shad were everywhere and in great numbers. I'm thinking the high waters Illinois experienced earlier this year led to an explosion of baitfish as they were able to avoid predators in the flooded shoreline willow bushes. Lots of baitfish equals well fed muskies and no success for me. FYI: water temps were in the 49-51 degree range. Hoping to get out next weekend on Kinkaid for my last musky trip of the year before I switch to walleyes & steelhead on the St. Joseph River in Michigan. Any word on Kinkaid lately?
