You would think that on a body of water as big as GB, that they would allow more boats to participate. Is it because of the size and the number of judges available that they kept the numbers so low?

50 Boats is maximum for this event....The boundaries are set to include the Fox River and Lower Green Bay which is an imaginary line drawn from Longtail Point to Point Sable. That is already a huge area for Judge boats to cover. Now keep in mind that the Bay is only accessible if the wind doesn't blow. If it blows out of the North, all the boats will probably be held in the River. Fifty Boats along with the non-tournament anglers would be quite a few in the River, but still offer a decent event/tournament. If I were still a member of the Green Bay Chapter I would look at a few ways to work through those that want to participate. First, those sixteen boats that participated in the very first event would be given priority entry, assuming they continued to fish in each and every event. I fished in the first 2 but I am not participating this year, therefore I no longer would have priority. Then possibly past winners?, Then I would take the entries in order. If the field fills on the first day, it would be a lottery/luck of the draw to get in. Or one could continue to raise entry fees to see what the happy medium would be...those are just suggestions. I think a point system is unreasonable and a nightmare because people change partners etc. Really tough to manage a point sytem. Good Luck this Year to all participants. Titletown Muskies Inc. does a great Job with this event!

Location: north central wisconsin | I like what Todd Forcier does with his tournament. He sends an entry form to all past contestants, and the first 50 entries that he opens(70 in his case), are in. If it doesn't fill with past contestants, it is openned to the public. It forces people to be on time in sending their forms in, and gives all past participants an equal chance at entry. |
