Location: WI | I have an old 5500 that has a little play or movement before the anti reverse works..is there a way to fix that? It's not exactly 'instant' like on the newer models. |

| That's the way that they are. Most reels before about 15 or so years ago had that system. Economically there is no way to change it to an instant anti reverse system. |

Location: WI | Thanks, I just wondered if there was an updated piece I could slip in there. |

| I had the anti reverse go out on two Abu Big Game 7000s. Took the reels apart and the anti-reverse was a simple piece of metal that came loose and out of place. I re-positioned this piece of metal and put the reel back. Haven't had the "fixed" reels back on the water, but they appear to work again. |

Location: Madison WI | If you have another Abu 5500 take the face plate off where the anti-reverse is housed and exchange it with the broken anti-reverse, it will work good as new. I know because my SSC3 anti reverse went out and I had a spare 6400 lying around, I switched the face plates and my SSC3 is like brand new! |
