How do the drags hold up??

Location: Hugo, MN		Okuma convectors have held up well for me. The drags are great, very smooth. I don't think you can go wrong with either reel to be honest.

I use the Convectors. The CV30D model. They are great!!! I bought them for salmon fishing then got rid of the stuff I had for muskie. I use them for everything now..

Location: Des Moines IA		I have Okuma Magda's and Daiwa sealines. For the $ can't beat Okuma. I've ran them 4 years now, muskies and salmon trolling, with zero maintenance , I've had zero problems. Can't say enough good things about them. The convectors are even better!!!!

Location: Madison, WI		Convectors all the way if you can drop the extra couple bucks, very solid reel. The Magda's have treated me well and they do a great job of being an extra sucker reel in fall.

Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs		I have 12 of the Okuma Magdas, from the 20s to the 45s in size. For the last 3 years I've been running them for salmon and muskie trolling, as well as for sucker rods. Are they flashy and fancy? No, definitely not. But, the drags are smooth, they have been maintenance-free, and the only one I've had to replace was a handle that came off after I slipped and my big fat butt landed on it. For $40 I really don't think you can find a better deal on a heavy-duty trolling and sucker reel.

Location: oswego, il		I have two okuma magdas and two diawas. They are a few years old and hold up well. With the okumas watch out for snags in freezing temps, I did have two anti-reverses fail(magdas anyway)(easily fixed) but it was really cold and I had them loaded up hard. Other than that, no issues.

I like the 20s for downrigger rods, the 30s for down rods and 45s for boards. Basically, the more tension I'm going to be dealing with in setting and pulling the lures, the bigger the reel size I want to be using.
