Sled- There are definitely a couple of redhorse species that you don't want to submit to the WI DNR for record status ->

http://dnr.wi.gov/ORG/LAND/ER/factsheets/fish.htm

So maybe you released a threatened/endanger record fish! How cool is that?
Better start dialing Rick Lax-> well maybe consult with a WI DNR fisheries biologist first!

Have fun! Nice photo!

Sled, we have quite a few species of Redhorse in the Fox River. That one looks like either a Silver Redhorse or a Greater Redhorse (Endangered). I've had Silver Redhorse over 30" follow and nail 6" crankbaits like a Redfish, especially in the winter.

Slamr, I was going to post up ealrier when i was at work and say that was not a bluegill but a green sunfish. They don't get big usually, a 6"er is a big one, that one is a slobasaurus green sunfish. I know of one place that puts up a very few number of 10"ers while bass fishing but never neen one that big.

this one ate a firetiger jointed grandma ... i was told it was a greater redhorse which isn't posted for a record so this one could have been registered that is if i would have measured, weighed and kept it. the record i saw was for silver and the state record for wisconsin for the silver is 29.75" and 11lb. 7oz. ... i'll tell you i thought when i hooked up seeing heavy and brown that i'd be on the board for that league night but when i saw the shape i thought i had a big walleye but by the time it came out of the net it turned into a sucker ...

these things on lighter tackle are a hoot .... we used to fish the redhorse run on the red cedar below the #*^@ in menomonie while we attended u.w. stout back in the day.

This is one of the more interesting fishing report threads I have seen. Since we need more pictures of muskies on here, I am going to cheat a little. With a wedding and baptism, I never got to fish this weekend, so I am considering today my weekend report. Caught a 45 around 2:00 today on a Super D. Fished until close to dark with nothing else besides a 32 inch northern.

Thanks Steve. I forgot to add how the first picture happened. I was by myself and was using the self timer on the camera. The first picture is when the camera snapped a picture of me just after getting the fish out of the net and getting into position for the "real" picture. Kind of an accidential picture, but I thought it was a neat shot.

Well, green sunfish and suckers are entertaining to talk about too. Especially if it had been a slow weekend for most people. Just had to give those guys a bit of a hard time.
