We use to have mostly tigers in the Madison Chain. Steve Herbeck of AML use to guide here. He would often fish after dark and rarely caught a tiger. for a general rule, I would say no they don't feed at night.

I can't say it was the rule because we've only had it happen a few years, but on a local lake that had a very good tiger population for a while, we've had some excellent nights for tigers. The thing that I noticed was that they were all caught out of water less than 2 feet deep. There were nights where we caught 4 or 5 good tigers fishing from 10-2 in the morning. Every one was near shore in 1-2' of water and caught on bucktails.

So perhaps they slide very shallow at night, or we just had a couple of years where they decided to feed at night. I don't fish it as often as I used to so I don't know if the pattern holds true, and they haven't really stocked tigers in there in quite a few years so there aren't as many as there used to be so I can't comment on if this was the norm or not. On other lakes though, I haven't caught a tiger at night.

A tiger muskie is an animal. There is only one rule about animals. That they can be unpredictable and there are no absolutes. The neighbors dog that is mellow and nice all the time might just bite your hand without you suspecting it. Bears will move around a bit in the winter eventhough the popular thought is that they sleep all winter long. Tiger Muskies are animals, they will eat when they are hungry. Pike aren't supposed to feed at night either. That's a load of crap, they do.

First one I ever hooked was about 2:30am. Same deal as Joel, caught in about 2 FOW. In fact, I believe it was the same lake.

On LOW, we caught pike at night in shallow water on crepers.

I have experienced one tiger after dark (3 hours) in northern WI and have witnessed another tiger eat a globe after dark on a Flowage. I still consider these flukes more than a predictable window for tigers to eat. I have seen Tigers become more active during the high skies/bluebird days than than their pure strain brothers, I think its because they have to much pike in their DNA and it makes them hit a bait more out of aggression at times.
