I was looking at a 93 Alumacraft Competitor with a 94 Yami 90HP for 5600 and was wondering how reliable these motors are? I bet it would move the boat good and drink some gas but I wanted to see if they run good.

I just started musky fishing last year and was looking for a larger boat that had around a 90 on it for bigger water. How would that boat fair?

Thanks for your help!

EXCELLENT!!

So long as the motor has been well taken care of, it should perform flawlessly. I have a 2005 and a friend of mine has an 85 and neither of us have run into any problems whatsoever.

I know my motor can get a bit "thirsty" if I keep it at WOT making runs, but when I throttle back to around 4000 RPM or so, it does really well.

If it starts well, and runs smooth, both in the driveway and on the water (see if you can water test it) I wouldn't hesitate..

Good luck and enjoy!!

Steve - Thanks for the input. It started right away after sitting for 3 weeks and we took it out for a test drive, lots of power! Thats all the convincing I needed, thanks again for your advice.
