Location: Monee, IL | Hello,
I'm staying near the Dam on Vermillion and looking for some tips on areas/types of structure I should be focusing on. Going the Aug. 15th. I've fished the East end and loved it, but going with a different group. What can I expect? How does it compare? Seems to be a lot less mid-lake reefs/bars....
I appreciate any help. Thanks. |

| When I fish that area there are some rocks to fish but not nearly as many as the East end or even Head of the Lakes. Therefore, I fish primarily the weed edges and the break lines. We have moved (not caught) some monsters (52-55) in that area sitting in spots that you wouldn't necessarily think they would be holding. There are a few community spots that hold numbers of fish but it seems that the larger fish have moved off of them or at least don't stay on those spots for very long. Good luck! |

Do you think that area has the same density of muskie as the East and West? Do you feel the less pressured area (favorable) evens out the more picky non-wind/rock influenced fish (less favorable)? What has been the best time of day for you fishing the weed related fish? early morning/night? thanks again for the info. just trying to mentally prepare for the week. |

| There's pressure in the middle of the lake, too. I was up there for a week last June and couldn't believe how many boats were fishing muskies...d a m near every spot... |

| All portions of the lake are very busy this week, probably due to full moon fever. You may want to check out places you'd normally never think about fishing. If there are fish there they may not be pressured. Remember Vermilion has 1200 miles of shoreline to explore. Good luck. |
