| Hey guys,
Ill be hitting Chautauqua in late Sept...Was wondering if anyone whould know any hints, tips or advise and also would like some recommendations on lures and colors for CASTING.

| I always had good luck on orange colored Suicks and black Ghosttails with cht. blades. If the algea bloom is on, try to find the clearest water you can find. Beleive it or not, I have done well on white bucktails with white blades when the algea bloom is going on. |

Location: Lebanon,Mo | Im not giving any hints.....It's been 17 years since i was on Chautauqua.
But i was told that the darker,black baits work well and fall trolling with large baits has produced some fish. |

| I have a friend who likes troll Tuff shads over the deep weed lines! I would imagine Krushers would work too! He usually does pretty good |

Location: North East PA , 20 mins from Chautauqua | The Ready Eddie is my go to bait on Chautauqua Lake . Some say I'm crazy for using it but it just plain works ! A 8 inch or 9 inch black leo is the closest you'll get to the Latiano . I'd like to see Todd make a 10 inch leo jerk !

| The key to fishing Chautauqua is perch. Locating the baifish will be key to your success. When the perch are suspended trolling Wiley's, Tuff Shads, Krusher's, and Legend's produces best. Hot perch and fire tiger are good color choices run them between 10-20 feet down over the open water on the north end and you will be in business. My guess is when you are there the perch will be in the weeds which lends itself to casting techniques better due to the milfoil present. If you do not know the weedlines they are impossible to troll. I like black bucktails, and black jerkbaits of the "pull" variety as they are easier to get through the cover. BullDawgs as always produce well on Chautauqua as well. Also, do not overlook the south end. Great weedbeds exist there as well and try propwash trolling the open water as well with the baits mentioned above. Good luck, it's a great lake and a great time to fish it. |
