Posts: 686 Location: Tomahawk, Wisconsin | WEEK 9 brought a stormy nite to northern Wis. and the fish were moving!!!!! Congrats to Gene Robinson for popping four fish in three hours!!!!! Two in the low 40's and two upper thirties with a few more actually not finding there way to the net!!! This is one incredible feat!!!! Lakes fished were Crescent, Hancock, Manson, and Oneida, guess which one was on fire??? The next time you stop in Rollie and Helens give Gene the high five, just plain awesome!!!!!!

Posts: 2323 Location: Stevens Point, WI | With three weeks to go in the Rhinelander Muskie League, Team Shamrock began the night with a reasonable 43 inch fish lead. Tonight everyone had a choice to either fish one of four lakes, Oneida, Manson, Crescent, and Hancock. Severe weather dampered the evening with lightening and a hard rain for a few minutes but by 6pm everyone was back on the water. Getting to our first spot after the storm, not thinking much of the evening after such weather, Gene struck with his first fish of the evening, a 40 3/4 on a bulldawg. A half hour later at 6:45, Gene again landed a 40 1/2. Another half hour later at 7:15 I netted a 38 1/2 and at 8:15 another 38 1/2 for him. Now to tell you just how good the fish were going for us, we lost another sure five fish that hit but just couldn't keep them pinned. I had what Gene and I thought was the biggest of the night at about 45 inches almost to the boat but came unbuttoned. There were eight fish boated for the league. Here are the sizes in order. 40 3/4, 40 1/2, 40, 39 1/2, 38 1/2, 38 1/2, 37 and I believe a 36. Anyhow, congratulations to Gene on an awesome night on a lake he's fished since he was a kid! Even though I didn't boat a fish, it was just as sweet to be the net man. Look for video of Gene's awesome evening soon. | mean gene super sub strikes again! we scored 8 milwaukee's best lights, a broken trolling motor rope, a hook removal from shoes (caught during the rope-breaking event) ... and the understanding that if you mount your trolling motor a wee-bit back it won't quite completely deploy. oh-well ... fished the slow lake but measured the one that was caught on oneida a nice 39.5" tiger caught by the second place team. shoulda, coulda woulda went to crescent ... congrats again team shamrock!!! it's the bar with the best locals in the northwoods ... be sure and stop in next time you're up.

Posts: 1996 Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | Nice work Gene! I was floating peacefully on Oneida along with Mr. Sled as the great Crescent Bonanza of 2008 was going on. At least we didn't have to get our hands all slimey! It looks like the only way our team has a shot is if we use my boat's results from Lake of the Woods next week.

| TJ, relax, it is not just Crescent that is hot right now. I'm having the best year of my life in Oneida Co. and Crescent is not the only lake that I'm fishing. The bite is very unpredictable but when you are on it, it is good. As a matter of fact I have had more days with mulitple fish in the boat than not, and more big fish than small. Weather is the first factor, then moon, then sunset! Went out last night for 90 minutes and had a mid 30 follow and caught a 41. John | |||

I was just laughing at Norm's post and the joking from the bar the other night.
