Posts: 1188 Location: Iowa | So I blew up an older 7000 this past weekend. I am in need of a replacement before my weekend excursion in September again. Was curious if anyone had any preference of one over the other...both are 4.1:1 gear ratio, both have the same drag systems as well as the same amount of bearings, the only difference I can see it the the ProRocket has more line capacity...what are your thoughts... Posts: 784 | Like you said, the pro rocket has a wider spool and a larger line capacity. I don't know what your going to use the reel for, but I like the ihsn for jerkbaits because its a little easier to palm. Kdawg

Posts: 476 Location: WI | I have both of these reels that I was going to put on the "for sale" section. Both of these are back from Abu cleaned and serviced. I used the 7000iHSN a few casts last weekend, the other hasn't been touched since it was back from Abu. I switched over to TE's so I'm looking to sell these. If interested, give me a PM. I'd sell either for $110 shipped. Personally, I found the IHSN better for bulldawgs, jerkbaits, etc. with a better pick up. The 7000ICS would be better for double 10's. As an FYI the 7000iHSN is a 5:3:1 ratio and the 7000iCS is 4:1:1

Posts: 1188 Location: Iowa | GOTONE, However Rollie and Helen's has a custom 4.1:1 gear ratio in their 7000iHSN... I would use this really as my cowgirl reel...and by "blew up" I meant that something in the gearing system went hay wire as the sound when casting the reel is very discomforting, a clicking screaming sound as well as failure to engage at times...I am looking for a new cowgirl reel and no, I don't want a trinidad... Posts: 663 | Line capacity is the only real functional difference between the two reels if you get the custom. Of course the major difference that most people notice is the size of the IHSN being quite a bit more compact than the ICS. If you're someone who likes to palm the reel that may be something for you to consider. Otherwise you get all the same function from the ICS at $30.00 less cost.
