Posts: 7038 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | Friday night went from a rip 10 minutes into the evening, to nothing for a few hours, to 4 out of 8 (no idea how we missed so many) in 30 minutes, to then nothing. Then the skies opened up and we got poured on as we approached the harbor. Yesterday I learned that my boat definitely qualifies as a "small craft" in the small craft advisory. But, then kings are coming north, so hoping to intercept a few next weekend and the weekend after....then it's back to muskie chasing!

Posts: 250 | Got out with Brad Nelson on the Mad Chain Saturday morning. With in the first (5) casts had an upper 30's on and shook the bait at the boat. Shortly there after Brad popped a 40 on a topwater. He then had a hot follow from another upper 30 fish. Shortly after that he popped a 43.5 on a bucktail. It was getting time where I was considering leaving and Brad suggested we do one more drift. He hands me a bucktail and says " Throw this over there", well the bait hits the water and two cranks and a 42 eats. We laughed about that one for a bit. Well, we did the drift again and I get a 41.5 to eat my bucktail on the 8. NICE!!! We ended the day with (6) fish contacted and (4) boated, all 40 inches and bigger. Needless to say, that was the best day for 40 inch fish I have ever encountered. Thanks to Brad for running the boat and reminding me after I lost the first one to set the hook parallel to the water, not over my shoulder like some Sally !!!

Posts: 1764 Location: Ogden, Ut | Well, out west we usually extend our weekend a day or so... We didn't wish to play bumper boats on Pineview this weekend so we hit another puddle and harassed the bluegills. We took it out on the muskies today. Only had a couple of looks casting and the boys asked if we could troll (which I wasn't all that wild about since it hasn't been working recently), so we did. I have to admit it was a good call on their part. For the 2 hours we were trolling we had 4 rips (one double of which we landed one of the fish) and 2 , well maybe 1 1/2, fish in the boat . Nik and Dane each lost one part way to the boat, but Dane made good on his second attempt and I managed to slide one into the net. Nik did an admirable job as netboy and photographer. S. Posts: 1906 Location: Oconto Falls, WI | I was actually up since the 4th through yesterday. Fishing was very slow early but picked up mid week. The suspended bite kicked in as well as the fish on deep breaks. Had multiple fish days Wed, Thur, and Sat. Should have had a multiple fish day Fri. but we couldn't keep any of the four that hit on. Early when the bite was tough Double #10's were the best. Later the Hardhead put in some very good fish, as well as Big Joes and a Fish Stick. The suspended fish were running very high as we boated one on topwater, lost one, and had several more up on the Fish Stick, Nitros, and double 10's. Sat. that did change though as we had four fish hit Big Joes running between 10-20' deep I would say. Here is the smallest fish (40") that hit a Hardhead. Posts: 2687 Location: Hayward, WI | Only made it out for about 4 hours Sunday evening. Did manage to catch a 38 on a Double Cowgirl off a windy point in about 10 feet of water. I was pretty glad to catch one. This has been the first fish I've boated since sometime around the 20th of June. Hopefully the slump has been broken! curleytail Attachments ---------------- 100_1847r.jpg (254KB - 86 downloads)

Posts: 238 | Managed two fish in the mid to high 30 inch inch range on saturday,my partner lost a good fish on a boat side hit,he was bitten by a deer fly just before the strike and only had one hand on the rod.We must have raised a dozen lazy fish that didnt want to eat. Sunday took two clients out caught one mid 30 inch fish, lost a mid 40 incher and landed an non target 4lb walleye. Raised quite possibly the biggest kawartha lakes fish ive ever seen on a shallow invader.Very uncharacteristic for a kawartha fish long, thick and deep throughout its entire lenght, awsome fish!Looked just like a georgian bay hog. Ill be back to try for her a few more times over the season.

Posts: 2361 | Cisco, transferred your picture into my hybrid post in research. Nice fish. Let me know if there are any problems with that, and if you have some other hybrid patterns please post em on that thread. Just interested in the variations and where they might come from. Location: Lake Tomahawk, WI | It's been a long six days. Started on Thursday on Green Bay. One of my brothers lives in Depere and wanted me to come down and chase some muskies. I figured what the heck. Was chased by lightning for 2 days and didn't catch anything. Fished out in the Bay. Big water, wow. Back in Vilas we had fish going early in the weekend, had a few nice ones and lost a big tiger. Fish were relating to deeper weeds and off the edge. Bulldawgs were what they were eating. Weeds finally catching up with the date. Some weeds already dying and re-growing in other areas. Brad Ruh from Musky Innovations made it up for a short stint with us, and he timed his trip perfectly with a cold front. Brad managed to catch 1 nice muskie, and Mark managed a trophy walleye which was released. Here's a few quick pics. Posts: 1058 Location: Medford, WI | Had to work the weekend, but managed to get out early Sunday before work - 2 decent follows, but none in the net. However, I had Monday off and managed alright: 36" in the afternoon on a dawg and a 37" and 39" right before/after sunset on a Weage. Had another one, in the low 40's, follow the weage in but spooked away. Got out this morning for an hour before work and had two dinks follow. I'll be back out tomorow morning for a few hours. Catch a big one, Jake

Posts: 32 Location: Brainerd, Minnesota | I did the family reunion thing on Saturday...so didn't get out, but Sunday I spent the entire day fishing in the wind, and then fished well into the night. We saw a bunch of fish throughout the day, and caught a 34 incher. Our best action came well after dark, when we boated a 47 and a 46 about 30 minutes apart. Both were really healthy fish, which surprised me. Based on all the slow reports and my lack of success at times, I thought they were starving themselves so far this year??!! Apparently not. Nice fish this past weekend guys. I've yet to boat a musky but only have a few 50 cast's in. Been too busy taking family fishing or doing things I shouldn't be doing (not fishing). Had my aunt out in the wind on friday and was screwing around listening to her talk and drink beer...took one more cast out into the middle of the bay and thought I had a hit on a bulldawg (yeah yeah). Get the bait next to the boat about 8 feet down, and 10 feet behind that right in the sunshine a big girl came in slow and gave us a wave and left as slow as she came...was pretty sweet to see yet another 4ft+ fish out on my lake....sooner or later one is going to be in a picture..if I ever get off of this panfish groove I've been in since winter......
