Hey Guys,
thought that I would post some pics for a friend of mine. He is making these really different "Bucktails". They have double Square blades. The blades put out WAY more vibration than colorado's. I think he calls them the 2x4's. The blades are 2"by4". He also presses his own clear poly blades.

Anyway- I don't have anything to do with them except I think they are cool and my friend makes them, and my first fish of 08 was on one.

If you want to get a hold of some you can email Don at donfarrellgallery.com

Joe

Now thats an "original" design, how do they spin? What are they like to pull through the water? I do believe that they would throw out a lot of vibration.

They pull hard! More than a doulble 10. They really do vibrate differently IMO. I have had a lot of success on them so far this year. They also start up right away also.

Pretty cool bait that hasn't been done- to my knowledge-up to this point.

His clear blades are really cool as well, I will post a pic if I can find where I put it

Looks like his unique lure caught a pretty nice fish on his website, look under "about Don". It also said he ate worms as a kid. It's a good thing he fishes for muskies... if you took him walleye fishing he would eat all the bait. I would try one of those bucktails out from a guy like that for sure. I'm not afraid. Duff

The blades pictured would cause a hard pull and a lot of turbulence. They would definitely be "different" to a fish, but I am not sure it would be positive.

It's a positive. My first fish of the year came on a prototype and many more have followed. I HATE fishing blades and I am gaining anything by telling you guys about these, actually- Don's baits would be considered "competition". I just think these are cool and Don is a friend..

Like it when guys come up with something different then just copy others. I think it is a positive thing as muskies hone in on vibration. Nice job.

Do you think the clear blades would eliminate a fish just grabbing the blade instead of the lure body?

They are neither positive nor negative to me, and they sure aren't competition, whatever that means. I am just saying just because they are different doesn't mean they are good better or worse than anything else. BTW, squared off has been out there before, as have different shaped blades.

Regardless, interesting.

"Pre-review" I bought one of the double bladed baits on line (nickel blades) and the baits are very high quality. The thing I like the best is that the bait is jointed meaning the rear hook is attached with an extender from the main body - you can actually make the lure turn into an L shape without damaging the wire. Theoretically it should minimize any leverage the fish might have with the bait. I am going to give it a shot in the water on Saturday and will report in. Looks good so far.

at night it does seems to make a difference. the clear blades (day or night) almost look like a small school of baitfish being chased by something. very unique, very easy to reel in, very different from any other bladed bait on the market. definately worth a try.

i reckon you didn't quite catch what joe meant by competition. simply put, people only have so much money to spend and if they spend less on joe's "true glide" baits because they spent some on "masterbaits" then he would sell fewer of his own baits by promoting my baits.

in other words, he gains nothing economically by promoting someone elses lures. therefore, he is showing that his integrity is more important to him than money. and because he clearly makes the most effective and beautiful baits in the world, his opinion about someone elses lures has credibility.

joe, you are the man...i bow to your greatness. thanks for your support

I took my 2x4s out last Saturday for a short time (only got an hour and a half in) but I like the bait. No fish but I thought I would try the action. They have a wobble/thump that's different from a standard double 10. With a double 10 the blades rotate pretty cleanly around the shaft creating the pull we are all used to. With the 2x4 the blades vibrated in such a way that the whole bait seemed to move. You still got that strong pull because it is a large bait it seemed to be more erratic. I am going to try trolling it tomorrow.

I saw these at Thorne Bros. last week. They definitely catch your eye. I heard nothing but positive comments from two guys in the shop about them too. The clear acrylic blades were pretty unique. They are very nicely built bucktails and seem like they surely had potential. Who said blades need to be round anyway!?!?

Great baits!!

I saw those at Thorne's last weekend and they looked really cool. I probably would have picked one up if I had the extra $ at the time.
