![]() Posts: 139 Location: Slippery Rock, PA | I'm in need of a replacement bag for my net. I have a frabil net right now and it seems that every musky we catch is getting its tail fin split. I want to get a replacement bag that will prevent this as much as possible. I've been looking at the beckman finsaver, but am asking for any other suggestions. Does frabil offer a replacement bag that will help prevent the split fins? I'm open to suggestions.

Posts: 572 | you might call Frabill. The times I called them, they were helpful. You can call Frabill 8AM - 4:30PM CST: 1-800-558-1005

Posts: 190 | I retired my old bag for a penn fin saver. It is shallower than the frabil for my size hoop, but like it way better. I have a ton of pics where the back fin on the fish was split. Its worth changing to saze a couple fishes tails my 2 cents

Posts: 2687 Location: Hayward, WI | What Frabill net do you have? I have their Powercatch, one size down from the Kahuna. Bought mine last year, put quite a few fish in it, and didn't have a problem with split tails/fins. If you have an old net with the thin, almost sharp mesh, I wonder if the thicker coated nets of the newer bags would treat your fish better. curleytail

![]() Posts: 139 Location: Slippery Rock, PA | Yeah, my net is an older, cheaper model that has the sharp mesh on it. I just ordered two finsaver bags for mine and my dad's. Anything will be better than what is on it now.

Posts: 956 Location: Home of the 2016 World Series Champion Cubs | Just a reminder, please dont take offense if you already practice this. Dont hoist the fish out of the water using the net. Allow the fish to remain in the water while still in the net. Dont even raise the hoop to the point where youre pinning the fish though still in the net and water to the bottom of the net. You will notice far less occurence of split fins. I wont say split fins never occur with a fin saver either but with this practice you'll save far more fins. i learned from the guys at rollies that you should get one size up net bag if possible. it makes it much easier to put it on.
