Does anyone know how to change the Ranger Cool hubs to grease hubs? Is this something that can be done at a Ranger dealership? I am having problems with my Cool hub system and after researching the problem I have found out it is pretty frequent.

the problem i had and many others have had is they are prone to leaking, seal breaking etc...oil leaks out and if you aren't watching them all the time you will fry your bearings...I took my Ranger trailer to a trailer repair guy in Madison and he said he switches a lot of Ranger trail oil hub trailers to the regular grease/bearing buddy system....I did that after coming back from a trip not knowing one of mine had broken and leaked and fried my bearings.
now I just grease them on occasion and have much better piece of mind

I had one problem with a hub, called ranger and they told me to pull the O-ring, and use liquid gasket. NO problem since. If you run alot of dirt roads, which I believe you might Kevin heading to a certain lake, the hubs do not withstand alot of dirt, the hubs need to be taken off a cleaned. the dirt stops the hub from expanding when the bearings heat up, thus forcing the oil to push out the seal.

I pulled the boat out of the lake yesterday morning and noticed that both hubs on the left side of my trailer had spewed oil all over the tires. I felt the hubs and they felt very loose and rattled in the wheel (I assume due to the fact that they are out of oil). I talked to a marine shop in town and they said they can change them over for me to grease. After researching the problem on a bass boat website it sounds like the way to go. I would rather not buy new Cool hubs if this problem is going to repeat itself down the road.
