Location: Des Moines IA | Think more about when you accidentally get a 5/0 hook through your wrist, while still attached to the 40 incher in the net, then you won't have a problem spending the extra money for these. Best money can buy.,

Location: oswego, il | I have never used the rapala hook cutter so I cannot vouch for their effectiveness. I can vouch for the knippex cutters.
Funny story, two weeks ago I caught a nice musky and I needed to cut a hook. My buddy bought these 5 dollar hook cutters and before hand was telling me how great they were. He gave them to me and I tried to cut the hook and they would not even cut it! I asked for my knipex and cut the hook instantly. He took his cheapy cutters and tossed them in the drink. |

| I've played with the Rapala and they aren't bad but then again they sure aren't Knipex either! IIRC correctly they are pretty close the the same price as a Knipex, that being the case I would go with the Knipex. |

Location: Minn. | I just had to cut some 8/0 hooks out of a 48" and a 52" muskie. Knipex all the way to get a quick release. |
