I know that photos kill less fish than wall mounts and BBQs...

If they're handled right and a couple quick shots are taken I don't think it's an issue. Depends on the circumstances. Use your best judgement and I always go by the rule of thumb that a musky can be out of the water as long as I can hold my breath. (not long).

Most never even get measured and if they're pic/measure worthy, they're good size usually. I definitely want a good pic of a big fish and don't care nearly as much for average or below average sized ones.
A great alternaitive are fight shots, boatside shots or if you've got a fast shutter, the jumps and surface stuff! Way cooler than the grab 'n grin, in my opinion. We definitely take more in-water photos of the fight than anything else. Some wicked looking stuff winds up on film while your buddy is locked up and you just keep right on shootin'. Digital cameras are great..save the keepers, delete the rest. Same goes for video, let'er roll. Some of the stuff that gets captured really tells the story. Nothing better than a few brews on a crappy winter night watching your old summer videos or thumbnails. Rod bent over in the frame with the fish visible in the froth and a glimpse of the bait is my idea of the perfect fishin pic.

With proper handling, a quick photo should be harmless.

I second the motions... all great constructive ideas to help everyone respect the resource.

TOOLS are another variable that will allow you more time to take a photo of your muskie. Come prepared!!!
-big net
-good pliers
-hook-outs
-hook cutter
-jaw spreader
-strong hands

Photographs don't kill muskies... people do.
