Has anybody done a head to head comparison of the OKUMA EVX 8'6" XH with the Induron reel and the TICA 8'6" XH with the Caiman reel? They seem to be very close in features and price. The OKUMA would be 110+120=$230 and the TICA 130+115=$245.

The O.I. has 7+1 bearings and 5.1:1 gear ratio. The T.C. has 12+1 bearings and a 5.2:1 gear ratio. You can get a power handle with the OKUMA, can you do the same with the TICA? Does the T.C. really have 12 bearings? Do they make a difference? Which reel would you pick?

The rods are both telescoping. The TICA collapses to 6'11". What is the stored length of the OKUMA rod? The OKUMA is rated for 4-12oz lures and the TICA is rated for 1-8oz. How do they really compare? Are the guides etc. similar? Are they similar in weight? Which rod would you pick?

I think both reels are excellent but with the personal service Mark offers with Okuma I think the Induron is impossible to beat!

If your looking at a new reel, I'd really suggest taking a look at the new Okuma Isis. I was able to hold one and play around with it a bit the other day and I was very impressed. I will have one very soon.

i have two tica ca caiman's and they are nice reel's real smooooth. But when they say there are 12 bearing's in them there are really only 8 of them in the reel itself and the other 4 are in the paddles on the handle. The only thing i think the tica needs is a longer reel handle. It is a little bit shorter than a abu garcia handle by about 3/16. The ca150 holds almost 70yds of 80lb suffix braid and i can cast the entire spool off with a 2 1/2 oz lure. The ca200 will hold 110 yds of 80lb suffix braid.
hope the info helps

I'm not sure about the tica reels. However the okumas have been top notch for me, I have 6 okumas. I have had indurons for 5 years for both fresh and salt water use. Finally after pulling cowgirls for a seasons they finally gave out on me. Any reel that can last that long passes the test in my book. I just worked with mark at okuma and got all the inards replace to bring them up to the current model. It is good to see that great customer serivce is still alive okuma. I would go with the okuma.
