What you are seeing is Dry Rot...the sun and elements have taken their toll on the rubber compounds to the point the rubber is no longer as pliable as it should be...thus it cracks. No doubt, get new rubber on. Not only is it safer, it is a headache saved as well... Steve

Posts: 8781 | I have a few friends in the tire business who have both told me that dry rot on the outside doesn't mean the tire is bad on the inside. While you may look at that tire and think "holy cow, this thing's ready to blow up" the structural integrity of the sidewall might not be compromised at all. But it might be. And since you're talking about a part that can fail and cause catastrophic damage? Well, my best friend gave me some advice years ago that stuck with me. "I've been selling and fixing tires for 20 years, man. If there's ONE thing I have learned it's this: Dont buy cheap tires. Just DON'T. You can skimp on anything else you want to save a few bucks, but if your tires are sh*t you ain't going ANYWHERE, except maybe the hospital or the dealer, or both." And he's right. There's a lotta stuff on your boat and your truck that can break. You don't want tires to be high up on the list.

Posts: 1 | Hi John; I'm under the impression that Titan tires are a division of Goodyear. Do you have any idea if that is true? I've had Titan tires on 2 Shorelander trailers (as purchased new) and never had a problem. But it's now time to replace and I always lean toward Goodyear.

Location: Athens, Ohio | Of course, the "unsafe" answer is to run them till they fail and hope your spare is good. So tell me, ya feel lucky? Well, do ya? Sorry, watching one of my fav flicks last night, get some Marathons. m
