i stopped in today to get a preview peek at my new ride...looks good!
there's still some more detailing and rigging to be finished (kicker motor, side rails, etc.), but it should be water-ready in a week or so. that gives me just enough time to rig up the electronics and break it in before opener!

Tuffy X-190
dual console
200hp Merc Opti
9.9 Pro Kicker
75lb Motorguide Wireless

huge interior...essentially the same platform as the 1890, but a shallower hull puts you right on top of the water.

this boat should be...fast.
can't wait to get it wet!

Um, it looks way too fast... *gulp*
Not a lot of freeboard for a stumbling wreck to fall against and not end up in the drink.
I hope I don't get a dent.
Oh, and good idea getting rid of that useless full windshield! (hahahaha - just thinking about fishing with you in July and not October this year!)

I love that front deck, it's big enough to be a "dance floor".

You like that color don't you? Seriously, looks like a neat boat! Going from my 40 hp tiller, I think it would take me a few test runs to pin the throttle on that ride.

i changed!
my last one was Purple Haze with a Gunmetal stripe.
this one is Blue Jewel with a Gunmetal interior.
the angle of the sun makes it look a bit darker in the pictures than it is, but if you look at the trailer fenders, that's the color of the sides of the boat too.

That boat looks good.
Show us pictures when it's rigged and tell us about it on the water. Speed? Ride?

Mike- Sweeeeeeeeeet! Who needs a stinkin' kicker or side rails, get that thing wet!

Sorno- if you're going to ride in that thing, you'd better get a hold of Saint1 for some muskie fishin' swimming lessons. You also could opt for a safety lanyard! But then that might not be good either, the visual of Mike dragging you across the water just zipped across my brain!! ;-(

Have fun!

With gas at 3.79 here today I think I would have gotten something smaller. Nice boat but that beast will drink!

Any motor will drink, it all depends on where you run your throttle. Wide open everywhere you go, you betcha she'll drink, run your optimum rpm range, she'll sip gas. The Optimax has the best fuel economy on the market!

That is a great idea how Tuffy decided to use recessed cleats to keep you from hanging rods up in them. That is ingenuity at its finest!

why not put in pop up cleats so there isn't a "dent" there?
just a thought.

pop-up cleats are available as an option; i saw a boat in production that had them and they looked pretty good. the recessed spot in the gunnel cap is there either way, it's a styling preference on the latest models. you can also get the throttle flush-mounted if you want, etc., just talk to your dealer about what you want.
Tuffy's been pretty busy...13 new boat orders came in from various dealers on Friday alone!

Pop ups are an option on any Tuffy. That recessed area that has proven to be very popular on some of the other models Tuffy sells. Tie the boat off and see where the rope rubs on the cap...it doesn't. Cleat angle is better for what it's intended to do. Also a nice place to rest rods when the rig is on the trailer and you want to load or off load tackle, no slide to the ground off the rub rail. Also is a great place for a drift bag or anchor out of the way while fishing.

Yes, the X-190 is rated for a 200hp. Zach had his X-190 with a Mercury Optimax 175 Pro Xs, a 9.9 Pro Kicker, I believe two guys in the boat and a half tank of gas doing 63mph down river and 60mph up river. That's pretty good with a 175. I would imagine the 200 Opti will be about the same given it's a straight Optimax versus Zach's Opti 175 Pro Xs.

this rig is the first off the line maxxed out with a 200hp on it.
i'll get it out on the water tomorrow and start getting the motor broken in properly. once i get that done we won't have to speculate: i'll put it through it's paces and post a picture or video of the gps and report on the handling and ride.

I'm guessing that 200 will be well over 63, if Mike has the nerve to take it there! The 175 Pro XS is a nice motor, but the 200 will be faster. Heck, our 1890's see 60, and they are heavier than the 190, and a deeper, slower hull, too.

got a good start on the rigging this weekend. still need to put the trolling motor on and the transducer, but other than that she's pretty close to being ready for fishing.

took it out this afternoon on a local lake and ran it through the first hour of break-in where you're limited to running in the mid-range rpms.
it runs on plane nicely at 25mph, cruises easily in the mid-30s, and runs 40mph at 3800rpms. i stretched it's legs a bit once the manual said it was ok, and ticked 60mph before running out of lake without breathing hard at 5100rpms (manual says 5750rpms top). once i can get out on the river or a bigger lake i'll be able to try it at WOT and see what she'll do.

i was extremely impressed with how well this boat tracks and cuts the water. even when running mid-50s mph the bow would lift just slightly across boat wakes and then settle immediately back down into running straight and true. it's very maneuverable and responsive, just plain easy to drive...and FUN!

Tuffy hit a home run with this one...be sure to get out for a ride in one.

Looks like it's listing a bit towards the kicker. Is that the case?

Also, I'd love to see Tuffy take the gunnel and instead of ending with a trim piece bring it all the way down below the deck to create a wall instead of an overhang.

All in all a great looking boat!

when at rest it was listing toward my fat butt...all the weight's on the starboard side in the back corner right now: me, kicker, controls, etc. she's light in the bow right now since there's no trolling motor on it yet and all the storage is empty so she lifts and lists to the back corner a bit.
as soon as you put it into motion it was flat. i'm sure that once i get it loaded with gear, the weight distribution will level out even at rest since the big storage is on the port side.

as for the gunnel cap: taste is subjective. the boats that have the smooth "wall" wrapped all the way to the deck have a nice, clean look to them. i like having the covered shelf in the rear cockpit area for storing my lure retreiver, stern light, planer boards, and the odd bottle of water; i also like being able to hook my toes under the lip of the gunnel cap to keep my balance on the bow when fishing in rough water. 6 of one, half-dozen of the other.

I noticed the listing right away, but every boat I've had did it when my "load" was on one side.LOL. Looks like a screamer and fishin' machine rolled into one. Nice ride man! Still lookin' for mine. Steve

Guest,
If they did that, you'd wish that there was a cool place to place your small boxes, boards, markers, and rods under the cap on the built in shelf. Look at the sides under the cap and imagine all that room gone.

Everyone is a boat designer these days. Put in what you want you will take out what someone else wants.

I got a double bubble, and wouldn't give up that room for nothing.
