My favorite musky lake is Little Wolf. It's right next to Cass Lake. It has tigers in it (I seen one get cought on a wades wobbler). If I'm right it was used to grow muskies and stock them into other lakes, but they got to BIG.

I too have been trying to find lake maps on line but no luck. If you find a good site could you post it?

Hope this info helps. GOOD LUCK

Thanks Dream Team. However, while I am looking for a comprehensive Muskellunge Waters list for MN similar to the one printed for WI, I am not looking or asking for anyones favorite/secret lake/s to fish. That said, if I find some maps online I'll respond. I might just have to scan one of my paper maps the more I think about it, which wouldn't be the end of the world.

Jason,

Here's the Long Range Management Plan that's being put out by the MN DNR. This isn't the final draft yet. But check out pages 8 to 10. There's a map showing all of the native lakes, a map showing all of the stocked (pure strain) lakes, and a map showing all of the stocked tiger lakes.

http://files.dnr.state.mn.us/fisheries/muskie_pike/muskiepike_2020....

Also, you can find a spreadsheet that I've put together for the Brainerd Chapter website that shows all the stocking in the state going back to 1998.

http://www.brainerdmuskies.com/Stocking.htm

Hopefully that gets you started.

Thanks,
Aaron

Google MN DNR LAKEFINDER and it will give you maps in PDF. Not sure if that's what you're looking for or not, DNR also puts out a list of all the waters with stocked fish, take that, add the natural waters, and you've got a pretty comprehensive listing.

Have you contacted anyone at the MN DNR yet? I would do that before trying to reinvent the wheel. I am guessing someone has most of these slides already created to talk about muskies in Minnesota and would maybe be willing to let you use it. I would definitely make some phone calls to some DNR folks.

I did write the DNR, and they gave me the long range plan, etc. which was great. They also directed me to the other Muskie articles/info. on their site, which has also been helpful. Thanks.

Thanks to everyone who is sharing this great information.

I wish there were a better way for the DNR to make public knowledge of all the lakes with a fishable muskie population or even just lakes with muskies period. I think it would help take some of the pressure off of some of the more well known waters if we could disperse anglers to more lakes.

I know of quite a few lakes that are not listed on the DNR report, but I know I would be blasted if I were to share names on this site. If the DNR had a way of making it public knowledge individuals would just have to deal with everone knowing about them. Small groups of people are keeping some pretty good secrets

Basically when you see the list of those lakes, add on all the waters that connect to those lakes via streams, outlets, rivers etc.... Some very good populations in connecting waters!

I didn't mean to bad mouth the MN DNR by any means. I think they do a fabulous job, but there are lakes with muskie that you will not find when you search the DNR for stocking data etc... and there are lakes that have muskie populations that do not have muskies listed as a species found in the lake.

People who are "in the know" so to speak are very happy keeping these lakes secret, and to be honest, who can blame them?

Finding a body of water that rarely gets pressured is like winning the lottery!

Actually weve got if figured at about 162,,,its very intresting the things you find out from people when you work the Muskies inc show booth at sports shows,,weve gone on some wild goose chases but also found some gems,,Coincedently the Minnesoat dnr will be guest speaker at the North Metro chapter this tuesday 4-15,,if you can swing by this would be a perfect time to ask about a list or see if they have one with,,we just got another sleeper told to us at last weeks MPL's sports show that were gonna press for info there. Important to try to figyre out which ones are potential remnant or migrated shoepack population lakes too in a list
