| I haven't had any action in almost two weeks now in the Pa. river I fish, The water is between 51 and 55 degrees. I thought maybe it was spawn time! Does this sound right? If that is the case, when do you guys think the action will pick up again? Is post spawn bucktail time in rivers? Any input or advice would be great! Thanks in advance

Location: Washington, PA | Could be. It's been my experience that the river fish here spawn later than the lake fish. I'm guessing because of the swift currents. Usually it's late april into may. I also don't think all muskies spawn at the same time. I've had a few days when we catch multiple fish, move alot more, and at the same time see some spawning. Post spawn is Mag Dawg time.

Location: WV | same way for me. I call it the shut down period. Its always a peak for me before and after but I have great fishing days in these water temps that just suck. Fished two days from daylight to dark..... 54-56 degree river. Didint see a fish. 3 weeks ago with this effort I would expect 5 fish in the boat with good water levels..... Its just what I call shut down mode. I dont know if their spawning or post spawn. but for me they dont show thier selves. If your like me you probabbly had some of the best water and weather conditions of the year but didnt get any action where you was really expecting it.?? crazy sometimes in spring. |
