How come I never see anyone discussing the Storm muskie lures- like the Kickin Minnow or any of their larger plastic/softplastic baits? They look like they would work. I'm guessing they are junk or there are better products out there? Thanks.

They work fine, I suppose, though, that a lot of disscussion isn't warranted, because there is little cost involved. $6 for a 10", kinda a no brainer.

the 9" storm baits are HORRIBLE on a figure 8. they roll over and will never stay down.

They were covered by people here when they first came out. From what I remember most felt they had great action, problems with the lip coming off, and fish could tear them up easy but for $6 (or less on sale) they were worth having a couple.

Hope that helps...

The Kickin' Minnow is a good bait at a low price, and you won't find those two characteristics used in the same sentence too often. Ronnestrand and Jensen won the Minnetonka tourney two years ago with the Kickin Minnow, and one of the biggest Mille Lacs fish of '07 came on a KM in Nov. The lip does break fairly easy and they do get ripped up and the tails pop off, but for so little $$ it's not a big deal. I use the bigger size but change out the front hook for something bigger. During the off-season I picked up a few of the new muskie-sized (big) Thundersticks. I haven't thrown them yet. They were pretty reasonable, too.

Durability is the biggest problem for these baits. They catch fish, but I stopped buying them because they'd fall apart from just a few hours of casting. I'd pay another $5 if they made them a little more durable.

So who's going to be the one to modify the KM and make it more durable???? If I had the know-how, time, and money I'd definitely do it. Hoped the Shad Clone would be "the one", but apparently not... unless the "new" design is significantly better. Love the KMs, but the durability thing really gets under my skin.

Lips come off a lot but...IMO you do get your $5-$6 worth of fishing out of them. If they fix the lips and make them a little stronger and keep the prices low they will have a real winner! That lip is real easy to fix too. Not sure why they have not done it? Good standing repeat customers are a hard thing to come by these days..

If you guys like the little KM check out Strike Pro Flex Phantom, Seen it at the poolside demo in Chicago and the thing looks awesome, looks like a KM to me but
will last a lot longer!! Sells around 20$ because of how many molds it takes to make this lure!! I only wish this lure was 5 to 6$!! Hope this helps!!
