I'm currently putting together a brochure titled "Muskie Fishing In Extreme Conditions". Right now I'm in the process of gathering information about situations in which it may be unwise to fish for Muskies, or in which you need to take extra precautions to minimalize delayed mortality.

I'd like to cover fishing in warm water temperatures, and how that can be harfull on the fish, cold air temperature fishing, which can cause the eyes and/or gills to freeze, and fishing in high winds, which can cause you to drag the fish in the water if you're not carefull, and result in a dead fish. If space permits, I may include information on how keeping the fight time down can also help.

I'd be interested in hearing from you guys about any other situation relating to weather conditions, if any, that I should be sure to include, and I'm also in need of the scientific terminology for these situations and any resource information I can get.

Thanks, and good fishing.

Perhaps getting out of there when a storm is on the way...although that could be the time to fish.

Like the time Merckid and I were on the water when a tornado was blowing through in a neighboring area. Lightning drove us off the lake. We probably stayed out a bit too long...

Mike, I can relate to that story! Fishing along a weed-line out about 50 yards from shore with a buddy when all of a sudden a guy runs out of his cabin, runs out onto the dock and yells twice "There's a tornado coming!"...my buddy and I look at each other, know exactly what the other is thinking (Man, the fishing should get good then) and keep fishing. When it started lightning more, then we got off the water. Probably...no absolutely, a dumb move.
Brad, as far as the "safety of the fish", I would recommend maybe adding a section on night-fishing and the proper tools & equipment for safe & quick releases of muskies.
