Help! My friend's 30 year old Garcia 5600c on a Shakespeare Ugly Stick went over the side last year. I want to replace it for him but don't know anything about fishing. Should I try to buy old ones on ebay or should I try to buy a new one? Thanks for the help!

I would suggest buy him new stuff. What a great surprise that would be for him when you give him a new rod and reel! The whole thing shouldn't cost you more than $130-$150 for a new 5600 and an Ugly Stik. If you can spare that amount, go for new. I know I'd flip if someone bought me a new rod and reel out of the blue! Go ahead, make his day!!
