Location: Chicagoland | I have been really eager to fish this Chain but am not sure how consistent the action is on it. Is it much like the Eagle River Chain? Also, which lakes would you guys suggest hitting first in summer? |

| I fish Three Lakes pretty often. It has some similarities to the Eagle River Chain but there is a lot more variety of water and some stuff that you will not find on ERC. There is a good population of muskies and in my opinion probably a more significant population of big fish. If you'd like to shoot me an e-mail with specific questions I'll be happy to help. To say one lake is more productive than another is probably not fair. Conditions change and some days are great for a given lake and others it stinks. All of them can be on or off but contact me with more info about your plans and we'll talk. |

another idea would be to get a hold of Norm Wild! he fishes the three lakes chain as well as Pelican and can show you some good places to start! |

| Ok, I'll play. Here's a battle/success story for ya. A couple years ago I was part of a large guide group. We had 10 clients in 5 boats and all beating up various parts of the chain. The plan was to meet at one of the "on the water" establishments for lunch. About 15 minutes before meeting time I told my guys that this would be an ideal time for one of them to stick a fish so they'd have some bragging rights at lunch. On the very next cast the guy in the front of the boat yells "I got one!". Sure enough he popped a pretty nice fish (42" If I remember right). By the time we got her in the net,hooks free, photo, and released it was time to meet the rest of the group. My guys came into the restaurant floating on a cloud and were the only ones who had caught a fish that morning. They certainly were the lunchtime celebrities and it didn't make me look too bad either. Never saw another fish the rest of the day and neither did any of the other boats which was kind of a bummer but the guys I had seemed pretty happy none the less.

| Last August we were fishing Medicine on the last day of the WMT event and I was tossing a Slidin' Shad right up to shore, bobbing and weaving it back when I saw the turbulant roll of solid ski slam the bait. I reared back on it hard, but the weight of the fish against my quick hookset sent my hand that was on the reel handle right into my chest. The reel decided to malfunction (TICA Caimen) and began to start backreeling as the force of the fish peeled line out. Well, that drag system failed and so did the pitiful hook set, because as fast as I was to fix it (matter of maybe 2 seconds), the fish was gone and so went by the last couple hours of that tourney with only one more follow to boot on Big Stone!
That was a nice fish! |

Location: Chicagoland | When I first read a little about these lakes, they seemed like they were overfished and the muskie were stunted. But upon further investigation, I realized that there is so much surface area for the fish to hide and the cisco pop in some of the lakes makes the fish pretty big. I can't wait for open water!!!!! |
