For my glide baits, I have always used wire leaders and a brand of snap swivels that are (were) heavily endorsed by many of us on this forum. After "donating" one of my favorite old HR's to the lake today, because the snap failed, I am changing to a wire to split ring setup forever. It's not even a discussion point with me anymore. With gliders costing up to $30.00, why take a chance ? The morning did have a bright spot. Caught a 42" fish, just after I replaced my lost lure, with another HR. Happy Father's Day !
