Location: WV | Do you guys fill up a 5500 abu with straight 80lb power pro. What about a 6500. And also trolling linecounter reels. Do you put backing or what. Just trying to figure out how much power pro I need for my outfits. Is 80lb the best for casting and trollling? Thanks for your help. |

Location: Sun Prairie, WI | I always put mono backing on my reels when using Power Pro otherwise it slips on the spool. I'd use backing regardless of reel size meaning 5500 or 6500. |

| If you are spooling up a "5" sized reel with 80lb I would put a very minumum amount of backing on - maybe 20yds. If you put much more on you will not have much room for your 80lb. |

Location: Land of the Musky | I have both a 5500 and a 6500 and have 65lb on the 5500 and 80lb on teh 6500 with backing on both. On my Shimano 400TE I do not have any backing but it has that little nub to connect my line to on the spool. I use 80lb for everything now. Some guides I know use only 100lb on everything. I was fishing with Jason H. on Mil Lacs a few years ago and I asked him why he ran 80-100lb on everything and about that time my line snapped during a cast with a big Bulldawg on it becasue my reel froze (10F that day for a high). He just said "does that help explain". Could not have timed it too much better for him Plus it was his Bulldawg... I went to 80lb that next spring and now as I get new line I am going with 100lb.
