hello all...i am currently using luna 300's (love them by the way) and was interested in seeing how many of you out there vary, and to what extent, the internal braking and or external spool tensioning adjustments on your reels (lunas or any others) according to bait weight being used, etc or is it more set-them-and-forget-them and just use the "SHET" (Super Highly Educated Thumb) method...!

most guys I know will set the internal brakes the way they want them and then leave them. The external control seems to be an experience thing. Use it more when your starting out and later it just does not seem to be as important. They definitely help stop backlashes. I have taken flat out rookies who we tighten it down for and as they get the hang of it we will start to back off. It really helps the frustration level.
