There are a few of them on here once in awhile but I think the sausage party for the most part describes it best.LOL

I'm here! I check the boards probably 2-3 times a day. I am pretty new to this sport so I don't have much to contribute when it comes to musky knowledge but I do add my 2 cents worth when I can. I have popped into the chatroom from time to time also. I don't get many chances to go fishing but love it when I can get out on the water. I'm always eager to read everyones opinions and ideas. There are some other females around the board and I agree we are highly out numbered, but thats ok with me!

Hey Cindi,

Musky huntresses are often great sharp shootresses, too, in case you hadn?t thought of that in a while. And that reminds me of a story?

As I write this I?m sitting under the only mounted fish in the house, my wife?s 42? northern. She caught it on a light spinning outfit spooled with 6# mono. Didn?t put up a huge splashy fight and didn?t roll, more like pulling in a reluctant log that swam away once in a while. But the drag and rod and her technique were no match for the toothy critter and soon we had it in the boat.

A week later, on a different lake, she hooked a BIG fish. Same spinning rod (Falcon), same reel (Pinnacle Deadbolt) and same 6# line (Trilene), using a walleye jig tipped with a minnow. Deep water (25?) right off a very sharp drop-off. We held the boat over the fish for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Had to use the gas motor due to the light winds. She was NOT able to get it off the bottom, though the fish did wander slowly within an area of about 30 square feet. At times she had the rod bent over so you would have thought she was lifting two cinderblocks off the bottom. The line finally broke when she tightened the drag and pulled too hard. I?ve since read somewhere that instead of pulling steady she should have pumped the fish to wear it out. We were on a good musky lake, with big walleye and bass, too.

Anyway, that?s a story of another huntress. Loves to fish and camp but she won't shoot critters and that's ok.

The picture worked.. Nice fish! Someday I hope to boat one over 40 myself. My biggest was caught with Tony Grant @ Cave Run (of course) and it was 32". That made my knees shake so I can't image one over 40 or a 50! I'd love it tho. I am definitely hooked on the sport. I do have to say, like your wife, I also could never shoot and kill anything. I love musky fishing cuz we have the option to CPR. Maybe its the estrogen in me that won't allow me to kill an animal but I just couldn't get myself to do that. No offense to all the hunters out there. I have tasted some mighty yummy venison! I'll stick to musky hunting tho. Lucky for you to have a wife that also enjoys this crazy sport! It makes it that much more fun (and less hassles.. LOL ) to share it with that special someone. I am envious!
Come on ladies let the guys know we are here!

I too read the board every day.
I've been musky fishing for about 15 years and love it. Once you catch one you are deffinetly hooked!
I also run the Milwaukee Chapter of Muskies Inc fishing contest. So, even though I may not get out on the water as much as I'd like to = I get to hear about alot of interesting stories from our members.
I also have a 5 & 6 year old who go out in the boat and love to cast! They're getting excited for the fishing season too.
I hope all of you have a great 2002 fishing season!
