I used to palm it, now i use the foregrip. The foregrip gives you alot better control of the rod. It's a much stronger grip than palming it, less fatigue.

Foregrip works best for me providing better control and hooksets

I used to only palm the reel but changed it up a bit this year. I now palm when throwing bucktails, smaller minnowbaits, and smaller pullbaits. When throwing big cranks/twitchbaits and Bulldawgs/Suzy Suckers I have started using the fore-grip hold. It seems to take the stress off of my shoulders and I tire much less quickly when holding the fore-grip for the bigger baits.

Palmer. I have a problem with the rod rocking left and right if I use the foregrip. I sometimes like the additional leverage when using the foregrip. Maybe a rod builder could come up with something more substantial to grip in front of the reel ?

That's why I use Keith's Pro Edge rods. His thick cork is perfect for using the foregrip.

The City of Palmer is located in the striking Matanuska Valley of Southcentral Alaska, between the Chugach and Talkeetna mountain ranges.

But isn't all about personal preference? Like asking someone how they part their hair?

I used to only palm, now I've started foregripping when using jerks, twitchers, and walk to dog topwater. Its a lot less tiring and gives you more power when you are jerking/twitching. Honestly sometimes there's no rime or reason I just prefer one over the other some days (regardless of the lure type).
