| I am trying to decide on a trolling motor for my new boat. I was going to get the AutoPilot 65 w/Universal Sonar. Then, I came across a very good deal on a Genesis 74AP w/Universal Sonar.
My question for you is which would you get? And why? The difference in cost is not being considered. I just want answers based on performance/usage related lines.
Thanks all. Tight Lines,

| From what I know about the Genisis, that would be my choice. I havn't yet used one while on the water, but I know 2 guys that give them high raves. The Genisis is relatively new, the autopilot has been around for a long time.
Best I can do. |

| I got the Genesis first came out and they did have some minor glitches, but one trip to the local Minkota factory and they reprogrammed the motor, and no more problems. That aside the Genesis is a great trolling motor plenty of power. I can now fish in heay wind where before I could not. Having auto pilot sure is nice, and I don't know if I could fish without it. |

| Plunker,
What shaft length on what boat? Does it get in your way at all? How do you like the electronic "cable style" foot control? Is it fast?
Thanks for the info.

| Hey Shep, Go with the Genesis, this will be my third year with one and I think there awesome. I run the 45in shaft on my esox mag, you have to have a TALL boat to run their 60in. |

| Thanks Chuck,
The boat is a 2002 Lund Angler SS, like last years Mr. Pike. I was advised to use a 54" for the AutoPilot 65. Is 6" more length gonna get in the way? Do you run yours trimmed all the way down normally?

| I've got the 60in. on a Sylvan 17' boat. The shorter shaft is too short for a normal boat I think. Yoy just end up running the motor with the head slightly higher and not all the way down. The long shaft is really nice for windy days, no more of that prop coming out of the water.
Don't mind the cable since I had a standard AP before the Genesis. As far as the foot control I could never run the heel/toe controls on any other trolling motor so I just use the quick adjust buttons on the genisis to turn it. I really don't think the Genny gets in the way any more than other trolling motors it's just a concern if you can fit 60" of shaft in the bow without hitting the windshield. One other thing and a slight downside is that since the shaft is thicker it is a little harder to over when moving from spot to spot. |
